I think he deserves a chance. If he is struggling, it will suck though, it will get his head down if we send him to the minors.

im with knight rider, [I]may[I] is a better word to use. if Lou and JH dont feel he's ready then he can wait. if however he goes into ST and blows everyone away, which is possible considering we dont have a real CF at the moment. in just about every case we have an extra outfielder, we should be looking at a trade of some kind soon.

Do you guys think Pie is actually ready? he needs more time in the minors to work on his swing. I haven't seen any of him but what I understand is that he loves striking out just like our friend Corey Patterson. The worst thing that could happen is he could have an awesome ST, make the team and then slump like Cedeno did. Give him more time (he's only 21) to work on the stroke and then we'll bring him up when he's actually ready. He's young and needs as many ABs as possible.

Hell no he's not ready.. I really think he needs another year, and I think that even if he has a good ST, I think that Lou leaves him in Iowa. Piniella doesn't want to build a team to win in 3 years, he wants a winner this year, then worry about the future in the future. I don't think Pie plays in the majors this year unless we're desparate.

The only way I see Pie come up is if he's hitting lights out and we call him up mid year. I would like to think that we will have the position filled so it doesn't make it a necessity to depend on Pie. We've got time. No rush.

He is not ready ,in the Dominican leagues he is batting .216 (27 of 125) with 25 strike outs and imagine going against major league pitchers.I agree, mid year if he learns not to be a free swinger and be patient to select his pitches.

I agree, give him a little more time.

I think it depends on how he does in Spring Training.

I think they need to give him more time. His defense has never been a question but his bat is in desperate need of some help. Which the Cubs already have an explosive line up they won't need much production from him but I can see this being bad because it could be a very negative start to his career and could cause him not to develop into the player that he is capable of.

I am still not sold on letting Pie play center this season. I believe this Cubs team is built to win NOW. I believe you give him another year riding the buses in AAA.If he does well there be a late season call up. He is only 21. I just don't want him to be like another Jerome Walton have a reallly good rookie year then basically suck the rest of his career.

I agree, that is why I was hoping for the Cubs to sign Lofton for one year ,and then bring up Pie when needed,I still don't see JJ in the picture,I like him but if we get a CF by trade,JJ will have to go.
