interesting (and very positive imo), but he's not really a loaner, so what does it mean for pie (or murton)?

I don't know....maybe keeping Pie down in AAA until the cubs know for sure he's ready.

I think Jones would be out and Murton would stay....:)

But willy t is young! i cant be bothered finding out his exact contract status, but he was a rookie, so he must have years to go. pie is supposed to be ready next year if not this, what happens come 2008?

That's a good question and would have to be answered at a later date...lol

Willy would be cheap, this year being his third year in the bigs.

I guess we have to look at this year and then go from there..:)

Yea, he's good but young, and if they're preparing for Pie, then it doesn't seem like the best choice.

i say sod it, get him (and it wouldn't take that much) and deal with the pie issue later.

its a quandry. not too hot about a trade within the division, especially what we would have to get for a young that will more than likely be an all star if not next year prob the year after that. jones/muton (if i had to choose who would go i would say jones strictly on the age factor)and prob marshall/marmol. im not sure i would go for that in any combination, particularly since we'll have to face them 17(give or take a few) im just not a big fan of inter division trades, especially with that kind of talent moving around. dont get me wrong, i would love to see taveras in cubbie blue, but not for the price.

^Taveres is with the Rockies currently. No inter-division

it happened earlier in the week i believe (the jason jennings trade)

I think I would rather just give Pie a shot. His defense is supposed to be above average and he has to learn to hit in the big leagues at some point. Taveras just doesn't impress me that much...

NO WILLY T! Why didnt he start more games last year? And why does he rarely hit the ball out of the infeild? I can go on and on but I just think the idea stinks.

No kidding. He's like a de-tuned JP, with less power!! Now thats bad! Oh yeah and he's a right hander (don't we have too many as it is). I don't see Jim doing anything that dumb after the offseason he put togother.

Yeah, that's why I can actually see him going with a platoon of some sort of Pagan and Pie. I really wouldn't mind that at all with our current options in the CF free agent market. I say " GIVE THE KID A SHOT!!"

The Cubs are searching for a left handed hitting, good fielding cf,some power
and speed would be great, and he wouldn't have to be a lead off hitter, because we have Soriano to bat in the 1 hole.

Gee,sounds just like Corey Patterson to me!!!

No kidding. That was the worst thing we as fans have done is get in his head and force him to be traded. I hope the total losers that boo are happy. I cant help but think thats gonna to happen Pie too.

A SAD SAD DAY IN CHICAGO AND I WILL NEVER FORGET THOSE MORONS FOR DRIVING MY FAVORITE CUB OUT OF TOWN.

We can thank Dusty Baker for screwing up Patterson.
Being fast does not make a hitter a lead off man.Dusty asking him to change his hitting style and mindset when he was just coming into his own as a middle of the order hitter is a cryin' shame.

Yeah. But it was a both Dusty and the booing.

I honestly didn't care for Corey Patterson. His potential never came around.

^ahh but when it does.......and he had a decent season in Baltimore

If CP has a breakout 30 30 type season in Baltimore im gonna be pissed. Its almost guaranteed to happen given cub karma. But yes i would rather see Pie given a shot than trade for taveras, thats throwing away our young talent we would surely have to trade for him

Yeah. But it was a both Dusty and the booing.

True dat,but Dusty messed with him at a time were things were just starting to click,[2003 season until knee injury against Cardinals],by asking him to be an OBP guy in the leadoff spot.[starting 2004 season]
Dusty put a still young, developing, player in a very tough situation,he failed and got booed, and then the pressure really got to Corey.

i'm hoping for that actually cause that trade and the treatment Corey recieved from the "fans" still leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. The only other time i heard booing in Wrigley that can compare to that was during the Todd Hundley years. Corey didnt deserve that, now dont get me wrong i am a JH supporter, but he gave up on Corey way too early so i hope he has a bunch of all star caliber seasons in him and i hope he kicks the Cubs @$$ anytime we play the orioles (this will be the only time i wished a player did damage against us)

1 more thing, 20 diff coaches/managers telling Corey how to hit didnt help either, but thats not what drove him out of town...he would have been fine if could have stuck to the mechanics he was comfortable with.
