This year we are getting a glimpse of what 2004 and the years after should have been with the team coming of an NLCS appearence in the 2003 campaign. We where going to have a team wich was stacked with offensive TNT to battle it on with anybobdy in the Majors and for pitching the qoute on qoute "Kings Of The Hill" with Prior,Wood,Zambrano,Maddux and Clement those where supposed to be dominant days in Cub history but instead we got well to put it how I felt we got cheated out of what we had coming. Prior went down, Wood fell of his bathtub,Sammy grew old faster than a Chia Pet grows whatever it is it grows. The Genius manager turned out to be a dope in disguise. But here we are nearly 5 years to the date after that Game7 was played in Wrigley and although there where many hurt fans and much pain felt between all of them was a feeling of well be back. Now finally it looks like we are on our way back and these 2008 Cubs are the powerhouse we once imagined. We finally have that offensive powerhouse that every pitcher fears some say they might even fake injurys when they see the CHC on there schedule =D. As for the pitching how could we ever replace what Wood and Prior took with them once they left our rotation. Two young special arms who together formed the best 1-2 punch in the majors. Surely we will never fully overcome there loss but how is landing Ace of Spades Rich Harden and the Ace of Hearts Ryan Dempster for concilation prices? Not bad huh? This is the way it was supposed to be hell not since 2003 but since 1908

Typical jackass negative krap from them and the cklan.

Not so "trivia": worst record and last place team in NL Central (as of 20 August), and with a contenders talent level: Cincinnati Reds.

I agree with you, however 04 wasn't as deep of a team as this. This team has no holes and are built to go deep in the playoffs. Dusty is not a championship caliber mgr. Lou has been there and doesn't tolerate bs.

Matching up Dusty with a team with what was one of the best farm systems at the time was a huge mistake. It was like matching up a bachelor party with a bus full of nuns on their way to some shrine.

Also, I think Hendry made alot of mistakes up through 2006 that he seems to have learned from the past two years (except for Steve Trachsel).

Well this year's team doesn't have a LaTroy Hawkins either. I sat and watched 04 season wind down thinking okay Cubs are in the playoffs 2 years in a row YEAH cool never seen that. Instead the Cubs went 2-7 against the Reds and Mets? oh I was livid! its kinda like having 1985 all over again.

Never mention LaTroy Hawkings! Every time I think of that name I think of failure.
