I got the September issue of Vine Line in the mail today, and on page 48, there's part two of the series about the 100th anniversary of "Take Me Out to the Ball Game." This month's article is about its history as the seventh-inning stretch song, and about how Harry became it's long-time conductor.

Legend had it that Bill Veeck had a microphone secretly broadcasting him over Comiskey's PA while he was with the White Sox. Well, that's not the case. Mike Veeck said he and his father "blackmailed" Harry into doing it, producing a cassette tape claiming to be of him singing it, and they were going to play it anyway, so it'd be best for him to do it live.

I saw a video on youtube that had Harry singing the 7th inning during a Sox game. I was uhhh thank goodness he came to the Cubs..Root root for the Cubbies sounds better thats just my opinion. I also believe its time they stop having "guest conductors" all it is now is a big commercial thats why I don't mind so much if the Cubs have a 1-2-3 7th inning.
