With tonight's win, we officially have Home Field Advantage all through the National League series'.... both the NLDS and the NLCS!!!!

The Cubs have positioned themselves into the best possible situation to begin the playoffs. What is also benificial is that they are getting an early look at probably their first round opponant.
Great job by Marquis. He not only beat the Mets with his pitching, but with his bat also.

I think so, too.... and if that is the case, I hope Lou puts him in the pen soon to try to get accustomed to that kind of role.
Also, would it really be that bad of a thing for the Brewers to get the WC? I'm thinking the way their new manager is working those pitching arms (3 days rest...full outings on that 3 days rest until they clinch) would benefit any opponent in the playoffs. I don't think they would make it past the NLDS, but if we would face them in the NLCS, it would be like a Home Field Advantage for the whole damned series!

Ditto !!! Everyone over looks his advantages . He is the best fifth guy in the national division. I am willing to bet he will show his worth this post season . If we pitch Harden we must have Marquis . My thoughts would be Harden through five then Marquis through eight .
You should also look at him as a bench player , pinch runner , or even pitch hitter .
He is like DeRosa ,an insurance policy . ;)

Marquis has been huge down the stretch and surprised me. I'm of the ones that was dogging him just waiting for the late collapse.

I guess you can say Marquis is going to be one of our long relievers/spot starters/bench players on the playoff 25-man this season. Of course, you have to realize that Marquis has been in the post season every year of his career (three with the Braves, three with the Cards and two with the Cubs).

Although I don't think that Marquis has been on every playoff roster during that span, and he did do his best to keep the Cardinals from making the playoffs the year they won it all, there is something to be said about the fact that teams he has played on have managed to win. It's no secret that I don't like Marquis, and I keep waiting for him to collapse. But, he has pitched far better than I expected from him this season. I wouldn't mind seeing him pitch out of the pen in the playoffs.

Marquis is a guy that i really respect, he can annoy us at times but when we need him he always seems to come through. I think TB said it a few months ago, but he really is one of the best 5th starters in baseball. He will be very valuable from the pen, Harden is prone to go 5-6 innings, and if the wrong Zambrano turns up then it will be nice knowing that we have that safety blanket in the pen. Also valuable like others have mentioned as a PH and a PR. I think a month or so ago, Lou would of said to him, in private, show me you deserve a play-off roster spot, and he has gone out and done just that.
