SPAMMERS

As many of you have noticed on here, the board is being invaded with various spammers. I'm sure most of you know not to, but under no circumstances click on the links they post in there. If you notice a spammer, please let myself, Vanman, and/or Scuba know about it.

Just ignore them until we can get the problems taken care of!

One of the major reasons for this is the board hasn't been updated to the latest version with all of the security holes patched.

EDIT: Scuba you may want to make it so new people to the board need atleast 15 or so posts in order to post links. Then people wouldn't be tempted.

Until further notice, any new members will be under moderation, meaning they will need to be checked by me before being allowed to post anything. The spamming today has gotten to a ridiculous point, so this is the way things will be handled for the time being.

In response to DLee, I am aware vBulletin is not updated to the newest version. The reason for this is because the new versions of vBulletin drastically change the look of many areas of the board (especially the profile pages). Until I can figure out a nice way of implementing this, an updated version will not be applied.

As for creating links, there is a rule in place that requires a user to have 10 posts in order to post links. Unfortunately, there is no way to stop people from still typing the address of the link. I don't believe this is really a problem, as most people will not visit a link if they cannot click on it, and I believe most fogpoggers can detect a bad link from a legit one.

VanMan, ryno4ever, and I will continue to patrol the board to eliminate these spammers and hopefully the moderation of new members will help this cause. I apologize to all members for these annoyances, but I guess it was bound to happen at some point. Please continue to use fogpog as usual and GO CUBS! :D
