I may have mentioned this once before around the board, but my family and I moved to Northeastern Italy last week. The closest "big" city to us is Pordenone. I'm in the Air Force and finally got my dream assignment to Aviano Air Base. Things are going to take a lot of adjustment, but this is such a beautiful place with so many travel opportunities. Here's a few pictures from our first week here.

Right outside our hotel room on base.

A church and belltower. Some of the buildings around here were built in the 1500s.

A double decker carousel that looked very old.

Thanks so much for sharing, Brandon! I remember you posting on here that you would be moving...and Mara had mentioned it after she got to meet you and your family (which is absolutely beautiful!) Good luck to you, your wife, son and the little one that hasn't made it's appearance yet!) It looks like a beautiful place to be!

The carousel looks amazing!

How long are you going to be stationed over there?

What is the time difference? (you know, will you have to be up all night to watch Cubs games on the internet? :)

I'm glad you were able to experience a Cubs playoff game before you had to leave the USA, even though it was a horrible let down....it's still a special experience to carry with you.

Best of luck and Happy Holidays to you overseas!

We'll be here a minimum of 3 years. From Arizona it is a 9 hour time difference, so 8 from Chicago right now. I should be able to catch the day games at Wrigley late at night here. Hopefully we can find a house with good internet so I can do MLB.tv. A lot of the area around here still does dial up.

If we like it enough here we can choose to stay another 3 years or try and move to Germany. I have a feeling we are really going to like it though.

The family will be +1 coming in January. My wife is due with a baby girl on January 30th. Busy, busy times.
