I don't care if they sign another free agent for the next 3 years, they had better sign Carlos to an extension. If he hits the market it is going to get crazy. Hendry better cook something up before the season starts.

If the Cubs are TRUELY COMMITTED TO WINNING....then theres no way in hell they'll let Carlos walk.

Hendry should of locked up Big Z,to something long term before this off season. It's gonna take something close to Zito money to keep him from testing the market.I hope he wants to stay a Cub,and would give a home town discount.
If he stays healthy, his best years are still ahead of him.

Lol in this case a "hometown discount" would prolly be 7/100.

I think it'll be addressed before the season. He likes Chicago, and Bors isn't his agent. A 4 year deal is in order...

Now that Zito has got a HUGE contract I hope Carlos will stay. I just hope he doesn't want to try the market to get a chunk of change like that.

Yea I think they need to sign him an extention, and I hope they do because I don't want to have another scare like we all did with ARam.

I look for JH to start working on a deal for Big Z during the spring. If the Cubs wouldn't have made the moves they have this off season I would have been worried about Z going free agent but I just don't see them letting him walk now. Its pretty bad that JH is gonna have 300 million in Z, Soriano, and Aram but I am confident that he will do what it takes to keep Carlos.

I would be heartbroken if Big Z skipped town because Hendry didn't wanna give him the $

ultimately, it is going to come down to Big Z. Hendry will make a push for him and offer significant money, but Z has to want to stay and work with us. We could give him $15-$18mil annually but he might want $20mil. Who knows how these guys think sometimes.

I'm confident they will work out a deal sometime this year. Its clear he is and will be the anchor of the rotation so he will command no less than 15 per year, it will likely be between 17 and 20 per year however. I wonder if ill be alive to see the first billion dollar contract.
