Okay, I just want to hear others' opinions. I know that Ryan Theriot didn't play a full season. I also know that Ronny Cedeno didn't play a full season in '05. However, how do they let Ronny play almost all of '06, but Theriot doesn't seem to be getting a shot to start in '07? I know the front office probably has some doubts, but I just think that there is an eerie resemblance between Theriot and David Eckstein. Basically, I'm just looking for opinions on Theriot in general. I saw a lot of stats, and listened to a lot of games, but didn't see too many games last year, so I didn't see Theriot play with my own eyes very often. But when I did, he seemed to hustle more than any player out there. Opinions Please.

He's gonna be a great player....he'll make the 25 man roster.

I like the 'the riot'....If Derosa struggles and Ryan proves he can play, I have confidence in Lou he'll play the better player.
Man, ST can't come soon enough..:D

This kid plays with heart....which is why I think many compare him to a little Sandberg. I enjoyed watching him this last year, he was one of the few things I enjoyed about last year. I really hope he gets a fair share of playing time this year, and if he doesn't, he almost needs to go to Iowa just so he can keep playing on a regular basis so he can continue to develop and be our starting second baseman someday. It's not fair to him to waste is talent on the bench.

I'd definetly like to see him get some good palying time. He'll almost definetly make the 25 man roster, and maybe could be platooned with Izturis.

Theriot is a get your uniform dirty, anything to win, sparkplug type player.
He is Uncle Lou's type of player, and will be an important utility player to start the season.I wouldn,t be surprised to see him force himself into the starting line up at some point. He is one prospect I do not want part of any trades the Cubs might make.

If they traded him, I'd cry.

Well, spring training starts in a month and a half, so Ryan has a few weeks of practices and a month of pre-season games to prove his value to Uncle Lou. If he's impressed, he'll be on the 25-man. If he blows his mind, he may start opening day.

I can see riot getting some pt early in the season and eventually taking over the starting job and trading derosa at the deadline.

I hope you are right. I was never a big fan of DeRosa in the first place. If they were going to get a player like that, they should've just kept Todd Walker!

It would be nice to have Walk in there at 2nd....i'm not too familiar with Derosa, i remember him when he was with the braves but if he played like he did last year he'll be a nice addition...and maybe his range will be a little better than Walk's....i'm still waiting for the year Eric Patterson makes the club.

I loved Walkers bat,but his defense just killed us the past couple seasons.
I don't know how many times he couldn't turn a double play, and it would lead to a big inning for the other team.
As far as Derosa, even if Theriot starts at second,he is very important to this
team because he can play all over the field, and is a strong bat off the bench,if not in the starting line up.

DeRosa had a good year last year. .296, 13 homers, 74 RBI's and over 40 doubles.
His defense is good to.

Derosa's not a bad player. Lat yar was really his first season playing every day and he lookd good.
I don't think CedeƱo's gonna be back, so Ryan looks to be the backup SS/2B.

No matter what happens this year....The Cubs should focus on hiring the Rangers hitting coach.
