Who have you got to meet? Autographs? Brushes with fame?
I went to school with the Brewer's Danny Kolb. Talked with Scott Eyre a little after a game last summer...great guy! Got Matt Murton, Sean Marshall and Ryne Sandberg's autographs, however, I was so tongue tied when I was in front of Ryno, I couldn't say anything! I was afraid anything I said was going to come out stupidly....I just couldn't believe I was standing right in front of my childhood hero!
Let's hear your stories!

Well my mom's friends with Grant Jonson's fiance, as most of you know, and I'm gonna interveiw him next week sometime for school (he's a Cubs minor league pitcher for anyone who's knoew and hasn't heard me talk about him yet). I've gotten Mark Texiera's autograph, I thought I saw Freddie Garcia at O'Hare, but it wasn't him. My mom also works at an orthodonist were Jerry Azuma, who used to play with Da Bears went to. And this has nothing to do with baseball, but one time at wrestling I sat right nex to Billy Corgan, who was the lead singer of the Smashing Pumpkins, and my brother was so jealous, because he loves the Smashing Pumpkins.

That's awesome!!!! I met Stone Cold right before he came back to the WWE a few years ago. He was at a Peoria Riverman hockey game signing autographs. Again, I was star struck and all I could get out was "Oh, my, you're freaking awesome!!!!" That is why I refused to let myself say anything to Ryno!

I remember earlier this year when I tried out for my school's radio station, they asked me which wrestler I would choose to fight if I could choose any and beat them. I said Stone Cold without hesitation, because that guys was my idol, and the whole reason I watched it. After he left, I stoped watching it. I know he came back, but I couldn't get into it.

I havent met many famous people. I did meet Dennis Quaid once. He was filming that flick "Flesh & Bone" in my hometown. Other notables are Insane Clown Posse, Twiztid, Tech N9ne and all the other artists on Psychopathic Records and Strange Music. One time me and a homie took Mike E. CLark, which is the producer of Insane CLown Posse, to the liqour store while they were on tour in a small town in Oklahoma.....that was pretty crazy.

I played high school baseball with Rangers OF Frank Catallanatto.
My cousin played high school ball with Shawn Dunston, and I met him a few times when he would bring him by my granmothers. It was a long time ago and I pretty young though.
I have some more, but they're mostly musicians.

Back in the late 70,s,early 80,s,on the northwest side of Chicago, where I grew up, being young and single,I would order food from a local pizza place on Fullerton ave.quite often. The quite young guy that would deliver my pizza
more times than not was future Governor of Illinois, and huge Cub fan Rod Blagojevich.[who grew up in that same area]
About 2 or 3 years ago,after a Cub game[the day they retired Ron Santo's #]
I was leaving Wrigley, and there was the Governor shaking hands as he was getting into his limo,as I shook his hand I mentioned the pizza place he worked at,rattled off my address at that time, where he used to deliver pizzas to me.He laughed and said, yeah I remember you,you were a good tipper.
Which got a big laugh from everyone.
That same day I also meet and shook hands with Jim Belushi,as he was leaving after the game.[he had sung the 7th inning stretch]

Did shots of "Jack" one saturday night [1980?],at a long gone club in the NW
Chicago burbs called Haymakers, with Jimmy Sohns, who was The lead singer of a band called the Shadows of Knight. They were pretty much one hit wonders,
but that one hit was huge in 1966.It was a remake of "Gloria",which was done originally by Van Morrison's band,"Them".

In 1978,while having dinner at Biasetti's restaurant on Ashland ave.[near Wrigley],which is still there and operating,I spotted Outfielder Jerry Morales[Cub 1974-1977,1981-1983],sitting at a table nearby. The Cubs were playing the Cardinals, and he had just been traded by the Cubs to the Cards.
I didn't want to bother him while he was dining, but when he was done I sent him and his companion a couple of beers to their table. He was nice enough to thank us and talk some.I asked him to take it easy on the Cubs the rest of that series,I don,t think he did.

I have met no cubs in my life, sad. I want to.
I met Ryan Bowen, he actually signed my cast when I had a broken wrist. He played for the Hawkeyes? Pretty big star there I think. He was playing for the Nuggets at the time I met him, not sure where he is now.
But this one, has no sports to do with it. Everyone will laugh at me, but you know Jared from Subway? Yeah I met him, and he actually is slim, and he handed me a free footlong turkey sub.
There are a few others, but I can't think of them right now.

I forgot about this one. I met Steve Nash a few years ago in Cancun. We stayed at the same resort down there. We were in the lobby about to leave, when we saw a bunch of people crowding around this guy, but we couldn't see who. Then we saw someone coming back from where the guy was, and we asked him who it was and he told us Steve Nash. And this was right after he'd won his first MVP, so we got a picture with him.

Haha I live in South Bend so I've seen Charlie a couple times. Even brushed shoulders with his personal assistant (who was very tiny) at a ND basketball game last year before the Fiesta Bowl.
As for other famous folks (Cubs) I hung out by the parking lot after a game last June and Matt Murton, Scott Eyre, and Bob Howry all came over to the fans that was neat.

I was the same way with Sandberg when I he was signing autographs at Harry Caray's a couple of years ago after Hurricane Katrina. I was about as nervous standing in front of him as I have ever been with anyone. I could barely speak. My fiance couldn't understand it. She also thinks that "it's just a game" too.
Also, Minnie Minoso (white sox) was in my aunt's wedding back in the '80's and was very good friend's with her and my grandma. He mentioned her and my aunt in one of his books he wrote about his career. I thought we were pretty freaking cool for that when I was a kid!

I stood next to Corey Taylor, lead singer of Stone Sour/Slipknot at a music festival in DesMoines, Ia. One of my co workers, Dave, was in a local band and his band was playing the local stage at the festival so a bunch of us went down to watch and were hanging out next to Dave's equipment van. Dave's van was parked next to another local bands ryder truck.
Dave's band and the other band were hanging out between the two vans and Corey was hanging out with them.

Murton and Eyre came out after a game I was at and signed, but Howry lost the game and got jeered pretty badly when he came out.... he and his barbie-doll looking wife walked straight to his vehicle and left without even acknowledging the fans. Eyre was great though. I asked him how he was liking Chicago (it was toward the end of April, so he was fairly a "newbie". He said it was absolutely amazing and great. He was very happy to be here. Zambrano didn't come over to sign autographs, but he stood back and waved and smiled to everyone.
Before the game, Santo was getting out of the car that dropped him off.... I yelled "Ronnie, we love you!" He turned around and raised his cane to me! I was so excited...yep, I felt like a little kid again!

An upcoming brush with fame that I am overly excited about. My parents bought my son a Kids Klub season ticket package for the Peoria Cheif's games for Christmas. It comes with tickets for various games throughout the summer, batting practice one of the days with the team, chances to throw out the first pitch at each of the games, an on-field picture and autograph day with all of the players, and the best part??? A Meet the team and coaches party!!!!! We are going to get to go to a party to meet Ryne Sandberg and future Cub players! I am more excited than he is, but I don't think he quite understands the whole concept of it yet and just what Ryne Sandberg means and has done for the game of baseball...but I'm working on it!
For anyone who lives close enough to Peoria, and has kids, it is a great opportunity...and only $20 (but you have to purchase at least one adult ticket per game, obviously, but tickets are really cheap for the Chiefs and O'brien field is absolutely beautiful....Palm Trees are imported every year to put out behind the outfield. Where else in Illinois are you going to find Palm Trees?) Anyway, here is the link!
Peoria Chiefs Kids Club (http://www.peoriachiefs.com/community/kidsclub/)
I'll keep ya all posted as to when the dates get set for the meet and greet, and I will post pictures on my Myspace page!

My brushes with fame (Cubs fame) all came on the same day, April 5, 2005. (I think I mentioned this on a previous thread). I was at the 3-game series after Opening Day here in Phx at Chase Field. I was lucky enough to have front row, dugout seats right next to the visitor's (Cubs) dugout.
I was watching batting practice and hoping to get an autograph. I was wearing my Ramirez jersey in order to gain preferential treatment.:D As batting practice was nearing its end, I saw Ryno, Dusty and JH gathered at the dugout entrance and asked if I could have autographs--they all readily agreed. Ryno signed and I asked if he could please write in HOF under his name--he laughed and said he'd almost forgotten! JH signed quickly and Dusty stayed and chatted and called me "Sweetie" a couple of times. Big smile, no toothpick.
I gave up on getting any current players' autographs and went to sit down. I turned around and looked up and saw who I thought was Aramis. I think I went into shock and couldn't recognize him! I called him over and he came jogging up and signed! I congratulated him on the recently signed contract (of 4/05) and he chatted with me in Spanish. I don't speak it, but I could understand what he was saying. I was in such shock though that I couldn't speak anyway. It's like nothing was in synch (my brain, my voice or my eyesight)! I got a quick photo of him smiling as he entered the dugout. He was just as nice as I'd hoped he would be.

I pissed next to JH at Slugger's. Asked him 'What's up?' He didn't respond.
I did thank him one spring training, he said 'You're Welcome'
Turk Wendel was warming up during a spring training game and asked him how it was hanging. He said, 'a little to the left'

My friend told me this at school today and I couldn't believe it. His mom was in line at Dominick's literally right in front of Jim Thome! And she didn't even realize it!!!!! My friend's brothers girlfriend works there and called him to tell him that his mom was right on front of him, and when she got home he asked her and she had no idea.
Now the thing I find most amazing about this is that she isn't someone who you'd expect to not know him (ex: my mom) because she is one of the biggest Cubs fans I know. I was over at their house for a party when the Cubs clinched the division in '03, and she was going nuts. I wish she had noticed him and started saying a bunch of "Sox Sux" remarks.

Now, if this was last year...he could have had some really interesting comments for him...
"See...We all knew you didn't have any balls...that's why we still got Dusty right?"
OR
"Wow! You do have balls...why don't you use them and get us a real team?"

Hahah.. Let's all be nice to JH, he's spending some money on us now.. Jim Thome is from Peoria, and he used to shop all the time in the Galesburg Hy-vee when my cousin worked there.. and since he was there all the time, people pretty much left him alone.. Apparently, he's a really nice guy.. My cousin was always impressed with how polite he was.

This is not Cub related , but funny none the less.
I made a smart remark to Bruce Smith one time.
I worked at a local movie theater about 12-15 years ago. A year after my REDSKINS beat the BILLS in the superbowl. Late one sunday night, when the theater was pretty empty Bruce Smith came in. He walked in and went up to the snackbar. My friend at the time who was working the snackbar asked him for his autograph. He replied with a stern "NO", then turned and walked away. As he was walking towards me with his tickets i was thinking to myself "What a @!$%" So he hands me his tickets and starts off down the hall to his movie. I said "Mr. Smith you need your ticket stub" He replied "I don't need that". I in turn said "Yes you do". Then he stops, turns around and asks "Why do i need that?" Then i go in about why he needs to hold on to the ticket stub. Refunds being one of the reasons. Then he asks "Why would i need a refund?"
I said "Because, i think they are showing Super Bowl highlights in there tonight."
His wife turned and looked at me like "OHHHHHH #@!#$" She thought he was going to kill me. but he just turned and walked away.
He could have snapped my head off. His hands are the size of my feet.
