sit out the 2007 season....wow...and the Sox off-season keeps getting worse.

Uribe may sit out 2007 season

Juan Uribe said he may sit out the 2007 season after a judge ordered him to make twice-monthly court appearances in a Dominican Republic shooting case.
Under Friday's order from the judge in the case, Uribe must appear in court in San Cristobal on the 15th and 30th day of every month until the case is resolved. This even though everyone has been led to believe there's no evidence tying him to the Oct. 13 shootings that left two men wounded. "I am going to decide if I am playing in the major leagues or not this year," Uribe said Friday. "It looks very ugly to be accused of something. But first I am going to resolve this and then I will go to the major leagues." If Uribe isn't going to play, the White Sox will probably go forward with Alex Cintron at shortstop and look for some veteran insurance. Jan. 5 - 4:41 pm et

I don't blame him.... look at some of the ugly, crazy things that have happened to some of the pro athletes this past year. Until it is resolved, I wouldn't want to be that easily accessible to the crazy people out there who might want to take the law into their own hands. Bad for the Sox, but it would be worse if someone decided he was guilty and handed him his own death sentence via a driveby shooting or such.

There has been some crazy things that have happened latley in the world of sports, most recently the shooting of that Denver Bronco's player. I would lay low if I were him too.

Yea, laying low's probably a good thing right now. It's better then getting shot!

We don't know he did it...I guess if he has to go to court and such there must be some evidence on him or is he going to court as a witness?

I think they must have evidence on him. I completely forgot about this till I read about this again today on here.

Actually it seems they really have no evidence against the guy. It seems that way because the prosecution wanted to drop the case and the judge made the decision to go ahead with it. Also when this all happened they confiscated Uribe's gun and were conducting ballistics tests on it, so that could be the reason for the prosecution wanting to drop the case if the findings in the ballistics tests wern't there.
