The wins are nice but it's time that Hendry makes a deal to get Dero back. I say do it now while the Tribe is in town. Put Font back at second and let's roll.
While he's at it he can get Wood back for a song.

I hope Hendry saw the resounding standing ovation for DeRosa prior to his first at bat. The fans voices were heard as to how they felt about the trade loud and clear. You don't let a player of DeRosa's ability and character get away. It's not too late to right the ship Hendry.

They didn't 'let him get away'
Besides, there's going to be better players than DeRosa available at the dealine, if the cubs have the money after eating $15 million in salary already this year.
And I'm sure Hendry really gives a crap about what the people at Wrigley do. That's not his job.

It's not about who is the better player. Watch the DeRosa interview about returning to Wrigley on MLB.com. Tell me you don't want him back.

Did I miss something ? What championship did DeRosa bring us ? Was that not him playing kick-ball with an easy grounder in the playoffs ?
I liked him he worked great for us , had a career year , good for him but he is not a franchise player.

I'm not going to fawn over him like a 13-y/o girl and constantly lament his absence the entire year.
Get over it. And, yes I'd rather have a handful of other players who might be available than DeRosa.

Dave Kaplan told me lazy overpaid players like Soriano and Aram are the ones who choked.

He must have forgot that Aram and Sorin earned thier pay getting us there.

what about Stevens, Archer, Gaub, Freel, and Cotts for DeRosa. the Indians want pitching, so give them back the pitchers they gave us, another worthless pitcher, and a bench player.

Stop dreaming of Wood and DeRosa and every other player you want to be aquired in a trade. Not gonna happen.

LOL, sad indeed
That being said, I can't wait to see people throwing themselves off buildings when he gets traded to STL.

i think the bigger error Hendry made was signing Milton Bradley instead of Raul Ibanez
22HR/59RBI/.312
Bradley will be lucky if he ends the season with those numbers.....

Yea, a real lack of foresight by the Cubs in ignoring the fact that Ibanez was going to have a career year at age 37 and Bradley would be off to the worst start in seven years.
Doc Brown's time machine really let them down on this one.

Bradley is starting to turn on. Wait until the end of the year then evaluate Bradley. You won't see the home runs but I would put him against Ibanez in situational hitting and fielding any day.
My wife hates Bradley too :)
btw. If Bradley plays to what I expect we will see from him , I am willing to say right now , he will be our best right fielder since Sammy!

Ibanez averaged 150 games, 20+ HR and 100+ RBI's the last 3 years and hit @ .290. His last 7 seasons have been solid and consistent.
Bradley has NEVER played 150 games in a single season, never had more than 100 RBI and his career high was 22 HR's last year.
those stats tell me Ibanez's chances of producing were a lot better than Bradleys - regardless of age or use of a time machine.
IMO good ball players put up consistent stats, not erratic numbers like Bradley. Hendry just fell in love with that OBP.

This isnt football or basketball, therefore I have to agree with Kong on this one. 37 is older but the cubs are in win now mode. Who nows what this team will look like in 3 years. Its all about now, and the objective of last years offseason was to get more LH at the plate. Dunn, Abreu, Ibanez would have all been higher on my list than MB. Milton is switCh hitter that hits better RH. Athletically he is more gifted than the others, but as much as he is injured or tweaked he might as well be 37 himself.

I have no complaints about his bat. I don't remember one person on here wanting Ibanez; IIRC, it was either Bradley or Dunn. Where his age really shows is in the field.
The real argument people should make here is that Hendry could have signed Adam Dunn and at the same time kept DeRosa; or that Hendry jumped the gun on signing Aaron Miles and resigning Dempster and could have saved some $$$ if he had waited it out for awhile while the prices for FA dropped. Dunn is no sure thing in the field, but Lou seems content with playing Fox and Hoff out there.

who knows if Ibanez would be doing this well here. If the Cubs signed him instead of Bradley, and Ibanez played poorly and Bradley was playing well fans woudl be ripping signing Ibanez intead of Bradley.
You dont know how anyone would be doing in a different situation. you can point at his stats, but truth be told, you have no idea what he would have done if he were here.

There is one that you could probably write down his numbers as far as HRs and walks go that is and that is Dunn. He is going to hit 40 homers, walk 100 plus times, and strike out 175 times. I didnt mention his below average defense. I have to admit I didnt want Dunn, but he would sure look better than Bradley right now.
