Palmeiro wants in
According to a friend of Palmeiro, the former Cubs, Orioles, and Rangers star wants to return to baseball even after the embarrassing events of 2005. Palmeiro, the highest-profile player ever to test positive for steroids, feels he's done the time and should be able to return. On Aug. 1, 2005, Palmeiro was suspended 10 games. He returned to the Orioles after the suspension but was out of baseball all of last year. The Cuban-born Palmeiro, 42, feels he can still hit.
Raffy and Sammy both want to play this year..

I still doubt either of them will.

Even if they do I would not count on either one of them being very succesful. Its just not common to take a year or two off and comeback the same caliber player you once were.

There should be a monument built on the same size and scale as Mt.Rushmore to the sluggers of the steroid era.
You could use Bonds,Sosa's,McGuire, and Giambi's life size heads, they would be just the right size. Then they could name a steroid era candy bar after the same 4 players.Oh well, will just go with a Mounds bar,[no nuts!]

I think his rep has been tarnished too much, i wouldn't want him on my team.

dont know what to think about this one. i still think it is awful suspicious that palmeiro would have been using during the last years of his career. it just does not seem like he would have enough to gain. maybe i am just a little bit too much of a sap but i would be very curious toknow if he can really play off the juice. inwouldnt want him on my team, but i would like to see him someplace.

I can't imagine somebody actually taking a chance on either Raffy or Sammy now. Way too much baggage with these guys. I mean, look at how little interest there was in Bonds this offseason because of everything.

Palmeiro was the one guy who I didn't suspect of being on the juice.
His physical appearance didn't change, the way it did with Bonds,Sosa,McGuire, etc. He had me fooled.
I always thought that the worst trade the Cubs ever made was not Brock for Broglio, but when GM Jim Frey traded Raffy Palmeiro to Texas for Mitch Williams, and 3 or 4 other players.I loved Palmeiro when he first came up with the Cubs in 1986.He had the sweetest left handed swing since Billy Williams.
I was very sorry to see him lumped in with the likes of Bonds.
