Steve Phillips on Baseball Tonight seems to think Sanchez will wind up in a Cubs or Giants uniform. I think it would be an upgrade however its a lot of cash for a guy that doesnt hit HRs and doesnt walk a lot. He does play good defense and hits doubles. With all of the talk of needing LH hitters, this would just seem to make Lou/Hendry look stupid considering the trade of you know who.

if he can out produce Fontenot, then it is a massive upgrade. I have been on this for a while, and would love for the Cubs to trade for him. Sure, he is not a power hitter, but he is a good hitter. I would not be disapointed if the Cubs traded for him. He is still fairly cheap ( about $3M left on this year). Can the Cubs add his salary into the budget? I dont know.

on the same note, if we could somehow afford it, and pull it off, Id love to get Jack Wilson with him

And then what would we do with Theriot??

dont know. but i think id rather have Jack Wilson over Theriot. WIlson isnt hitting as well as Theriot, but defensively he is a hell of a lot better I beleive

I think the question would be which would you rather have Sanchez or Wilson. Theriot could easily slide to 2b. Both a pretty high priced players whereas Theriot makes 500K. Sooner or later though he is going to get paid.

I really think that until this sale is done, any bigger deals are not going to be possible. They are not going to add debt before they get it all through the bankrupcy courts. I
would love to see Freddie Sanchez in pinstripes, tho!

Sanchez will make $8 million + next year, that is something that is probably going to be factored in.

Theriot will never be a high paid player. He is limited defensively and isnt a quality offensive player. Id say 4-6M per tops.

yeah I agree 4-6 mill tops, but I do think he is a pretty good offensive player. He is consistent. I dont think he is going to hit 10 HRs a year but .285 with 20 SBs is pretty good.

Once his speed starts to go, Theriots offensive numbers will decrease across the board. Trammell was right to criticize him for 'fake hustle'. All those dives will eventually add up.

Besides the cubs have 3-4 intriguing SS in the minors.

Im not high on his defense. I personally think he is a 2b. With that being said, he is the most consistant hitter we have.
