Rush to buy Rams

Ok , I get the owners not wanting him but the player union are fools to not let him own the team ! What a bunch of idiots to let politics manipulate their opinions in a business matter. Rush would be the best friend to the players !

First of all he would be the only owner to be a card-carrying-member of a UNION ! Secondly he has ALWAYS come out and supported the players being paid as much as they can get because they are the talent people pay to see, Rush is a talent guy and understands the business side but with great empathy toward the players because he can identify with them due to his success being because of his talent.

I am so fed up with the NFL. The game is becoming nothing like the game I grew up with.

You miss the point as to why Rush cannot be an NFL owner. He's been on the record twice as being against some of the players. First, while on ESPN's Sunday NFL Countdown, he said the reason Donovan McNabb is given as much of a chance that he's had is because the league wants a successful black quarterback. That led him to resign from ESPN. Second, he's said that NFL games are about like the Bloods and the Crypts fighting without weapons, adding, "There, I said it!" That is totally derrogatory toward all NFL players, especially afro-American players.

I'm sorry, Lee, but Roger Goddell doesn't want anything to tarnish "The Shield." Checketts is right to drop him from the group.

That would be a good reason , if he ever said it but , he never did ! It was a complete fabrication.

As for the McNabb comment it was nothing against McNabb and more of a dagger toward sports media.

It just is not fair for the Rams franchise. I believe the St. Louis team would be better served by a son of the state than any outside individuals.

I really don't understand where the NFL can have such a noble attitude against what someone supposedly said all while they embrace wife-beaters , gun criminals , dog tortures and rapist.

I am new to this board, and obviously did not have a chance to chime in on this story when it originally broke. It is still however, an interesting subject! I am going to preface my views on this subject by first saying that I am a moderate liberal, who does not listen to Rush Limbaugh.

If we start to deny people certain rights due to their political beliefs, we are going to start a nasty trend. Free speech is ultimately tested, when you need to defend it while it's ideals differ with your own. We can not define our terms of free speech, based on our own personal beliefs!

On to a few statements that you have made VanMan:

I do not see the problem with this statement. This is simply Rush's opinion on media bias. Which frankly, I agree with. At the time that Rush said this, he was called a racist by many liberals, and also the black community. But what exactly is racist about the above statement? The answer is nothing. When a black person discusses race relations in this country, he/she is labeled a civil rights activist. When a white person strays from political correctness, and speaks his/her mind on race relations, he's usually labeled a racist. It is a silly double standard our society has set up.

Rush is talking about equality in his statement. We are all capable of the same good and bad things in society. But the media placates to minorities, and doesn't report the news on them like they do white people. The media is quick to vilify white people in racial fights, crimes, etc. But the same media is reluctant to paint black people in a negative light, often purposely omitting the race of black criminals in crimes against white people. This is a problem, because it is rooted in not holding black people to the same standards as white people. Again, black and white people are capable of the same things, good and bad. Equality is holding both races to the same standards, good and bad.

I do not know you personally, VanMan. I am sure you are a nice guy. I am also willing to bet that you lean heavily to the left. Why would I make that bet? Because your critique of Rush is consistent with that of an ultra-liberal. Ultra-liberals make up statements Rush says to vilify him as a racist. Rush didn't say the statement you mentioned above. He certainly did not say it in that context. This is just petty partisan politics at it's worst.

I just wanted to give my two cents on this subject. We have become such a politically correct society, that no one can talk about race relations in this country without being labeled a racist, especially if you are white. As a liberal I am embarrassed at the road blocks liberals have placed in advancing race relations in this country. When liberals aren't busy calling every third white person a racist, they are telling us how racism is overtaking our country. But that is just not the case. Most white people are good people, who do not act on feelings of racism. Most black people are good people, who do not act on feelings of racism. I just wish people would start to back off on the political correctness, and let the citizens of this country begin an honest, open, dialogue on race retaliations in this country.
