I'm not sure how many of you get the MLB Network, but they have a great show called the Prime 9, which is a countdown on various topics in baseball. 9 innings, 9 players...Prime 9....

Anywho... thought I would get some input on some topics. Fogpog's Prime 9. I hope you take part. I will list a topic (or feel free to add your own)... then add YOUR Prime 9... please remember this is everyone's opinions and be respectful of their opinions when commenting.

Let's have some fun with this.

Need some help remembering? 9. Nefi "little dusty" Perez
8. Kevin Gregg
7. Bob Howry
6. Todd Hundley
5. Mark Prior
4. LaTroy Hawkins
3. Jacque Jones
2. Milton Bradley
1. Dusty Baker

I realize Dusty didn't play... but I do still blame him for the collaps of 2003... that inning. He didn't get off his toothpick-chewing-butt and go out there to slow the game down... he didn't go out there to calm the situation. He did nothing. Many a tear left my eyes with his name all over them.

9. Oct. 15, 2003: Game 7 of NLCS against the Marlins, After giving up a 3 run homer to Cabrera, Woody himself hits a 2 run homer to tie the game, and the Alou hit another two run homer to take the lead, but the Marlins came back to win it and the series with a 9-6 win

8. Opening Day 2008.... March 31, 2008... Kouske Fukudome cracks a game tying home run in the bottom of the 9th inning off Eric Gagne in his Cubs/MLB debut (and I was there to see this one in person :)) I have NEVER felt Wrigley shake as I did that day!

7. June 29, 2007...Cubs vs Milwaukee... Aramis hits a game winning Grand Slam off of Franciso Cordero.

6. August 7, 2004... Greg Maddux was back in a Cubs uniform for his 300th win, although it took place in San Francisco.

5. May 6, 1988: Kerry's 20K game against the Astros

4. September 14, 2008: Zambrano's No No against the Astros at Wrigley North.

3. May 30, 2008: The Comeback vs Colorado...after being down 8-0, and 9-1, the Cubs BENCH rallies to come back and beat the Rockies.

2. June 23, 1984: The Sandberg Game...Sandberg hits TWO homers off of HOF closer Bruce Sutter to make a name for himself on National TV.

1. October 14, 2003... I don't think I need to describe this game... nor do I wish it was one of my most memorable.

(the night the tornado sirens went off at Wrigley a couple of years ago was pretty up there for me, too... but not enough to make my "prime 9")

Oh, I forgot about the Neifi Grand Slam one! It stuck between the fence and the foul pole... and won me a bet against a co-worker! He was a cardinal fan and we were taking a bus trip the next month to Wrigley for a Cubs/Cards game. If the Cubs won the series, he had to wear my Todd Walker jersey on the bus, to Wrigley, walk around the entire perimeter of Wrigley once and have his picture taken in my jersey at the Harry Caray statue. If the Cardinals won the series, I had to wear his Pujols jersey and do the same thing!

The superman slide, too! ahhhh...what a memory! I have that call as an mp3 on my computer!

I was at that Cubs/Cards game in September 2007.... with a Cardinal fan! :) He didn't talk the whole way home! (and it's a two hour ride! :))

A-Gon--I really only didn't like him after that whole routine-ball-between-the-legs thing... but I put more of the blame on Dusty for not getting off his ass and getting out there to slow the game down... perhaps then it would not have felt as much of a downward spiral thing...

I like your lists, Bockstock!

The Niefi GS was awesome because the Cubs were still somewhat in the Wild Card race and the Cubs were beaten by the Cards on that stupid Eckstein suicide squeeze a couple of nights before I believe.

It reminds me I've been on the road for so many great Cub-Cards games, the one in 2007, the one in May 2004 where it was the same situation 4-3 cubs top of the ninth in Wrigley and one of the Cards big three belted one that Patterson caught against the ivy for the last out of the game.

I believe the player Cubs fans have forgotten about, is Kenny Lofton...

Sure, he only played with the Cubs for 1/3 of the season... But he was a big reason why the Cubs won the division... On top of his very good defense, strong leadership, and base-running ability... Lofton had a .327/.381/.471 line. In the playoffs, he hit .286 against the Braves, and .323 against the Marlins.
