To the fine members of the fogpog cubs message board, why all the negativity on this thread? COOLCAT is a positive and to quote mark mcguire, I am here to be positive. Am I a troll? I suppose so, but a troll can only be a troll if there is an audience and I am willing to bet that the simple words... COOLCAT c o o l c a t gave each and everyone of you a chuckle at some point. My whole point is/was to get people to lighten up, I love my cubbies too but for crying out loud, we need to relax and lighten up a bit, after all we can argue, debate, make suggestions but how much of it really gets through? I have participated in a few serious discussions but I have also learned the power of the message board, hell after the 2005 season I started a rumor that maddux was working out with clemens in the off-season, had a lot of people believing that and the tribune even picked up on that rumor. Then this past year as you all know I almost single handedly gave sean marshall a new nickname... COOLCAT, now this hasn't fully taken, but I am sure that he is aware of it and have seen carrie muskrat debunk it in print by emphasizing his real nickname. I like sean marshall but am not in love with him as a player. He's alright and I hope he improves and has a great career but you have to understand that the experiment here was to use the power of the message board and give him a new nickname while getting a few chuckles along the way. I do have marshalls autograph, in fact I have quite a few of them, he is one of the more accessible guys at spring training and you can bet this year when I see him I will call him COOLCAT. I hope you will do the same.

I don't want to get into any name calling here Ivy, but this is the age of the internet where everybody and their brother considers themselves a 'news source' - point being, if you look to message boards for your news then you are an uninformed person. As I stated I hope a little of what I posted got thru and if you can read between the lines of the maddux rumor it really said... greg, you are fat and out of shape, get into shape this offseason so you can have a good 2006 - well, he did and he sorta did, it just had nothing to do with the rumor. To me a message/discussion board is an amusement and I will treat it as such and if I choose to be creative in my story telling then I will be and if I choose to go...

I dont come here looking for breaking news, i do that with news sites. What i do however is come here to discuss my findings or other peoples findings......we talk potential scenarios based on fact or desires, but NO ONE is on here spreading fake **** trying to pass it off as real as i suspect you have done in the past. I live in Illinois where it is so cold, it hit 15 degrees BELOW zero last night. The news started off last night with a warning that no one should be outside unless it was an absolute emergency! Supposed to be like that until Friday!

That's the attitude we like to see here. I think your experiment, as interesting as it may be, just went on too long for most folks to the point where it just got pretty annoying. You are free to act as you wish on here (just like any other message board), but there will be consequences for certain actions, which you seem to be aware of. It's all up to the individual user. seriously, i doubt its ever been over 30 degrees in my lifetime (although europe is getting warmer every year these days). most of the year its overcast and chilly, which isnt helped by the fact that its so damned windy.

i follow the cubs on the web mostly, there are a couple of channels that carry mlb but one is on cable (which i dont have) and the other i cant get because the signal doesnt carry to where i live (when im in dundee, i spend most of the summer back home in edinburgh, where it does). so i used to watch online, but my new broadband package (which i didnt choose, and wouldnt have chosen) has a download cap of 40g/m and being as how mlb.tv runs at 1.2g/h ill be on gameday mostly. sigh...

yes, they really do - i dont know if youre aware of the "not wearing underwear" rule, but its an excellent invitation to chatup lines, ie 'so, are you a proper scotsman then?' and im always happy to evidence it somewhere more private...

its more effective with non-British girls, particularly north american, generally have to lay on the accent slightly heavier and mix in more scots, but aye, its a braw pulling technique.

I am so pleased to find a fellow scotch drinker with my same taste .

SCAPA is the finest scotch that has ever crossed these lips. A single malt Balveinie is next best a little more reasonable but , I also suffer from the lack of funds issue so I usually stick to my J&B and leave Scapa for the special occasions like a CUB's WIN !!!!!
