Summer of 1969
Jesse's Girl
or Break on Through

I just like all those songs.. the only one that would be even remotely relevant would be Break on Through

don't think Santo would like Summer of '69 as the theme...not a good outcome for them that year...darn Mets.

Yeah.. I kind of thought of that after I wrote it.. I still liked that song though.. Say... does it make me a bad person if I kind of like the Mets.. even if it's just a little? Maybe it's because I hate the Yanks so much..

I guess depends on your generation. Now, since you weren't alive when the Mets ruined the Cubs chances in '69, you don't have the deep hatred for that team as those who were alive then. I was not born yet either, but my father? When we choose games to go to, a Cubs vs Mets game is out of the question. If you listen to Ron when they have to go to Shea, you can tell his deep rooted hate for the franchise as well. I wouldn't vocalize your secret admiration for the Mets, as you don't know who will react badly to it!:) I take it as the ones who remember the Summer of '69 have not mended their hearts as we haven't really mended ours after the '03 season. The Mets are comparible to Bartman, in a way, as some do still hold hard feelings toward poor old Steve.

I've always been of the opinion that die hard fans have rookie seasons, just like players do. What I consider a die hard fans rookie season is the first season that you are interested in what goes on in the off season and follow that team from spring training to game 162,and live and die with each win or loss.I bet all of you would have no trouble to figure out which Cub season was
your rookie year.
Well, for me it was 1969. So I can tell you from experence, any Cub fan who remembers that season, hates the Mets,as I still do after all these years!

"Don't Stop Me Now", is a good choice. Freddy was, as the Cubs are these days, on high octane energy. I have been a Cub fan for a long time, and cannot recall a stretch of winning 16 out of 20 before.

All of our hopes and expectations from the off-season aquisitions are paying off now. Piniella has taken control of this team. Even though they are 3-1/2 games behind, it's the Brewers that are feeling the pressure.

Bingo

I have always loved that...and got goosebumps as the players ran onto the field as the song started....

I have heard them play it quite a few times at wrigley this year!
