Looks like the Rangers are close to a minor league contract w/ Slammin Sammy.
I think it makes sense. If Sosa can amount to anything for them, they have themselves a DH. If not, they aren't wasting alot of money. He probably only wants to get to 600, but I hope he can make the squad and have a halfway decent year- Odds are against him though.

That would be cool....especially since i'm gonna catch my first Live CUbs game when they come play the Rangers this summer.

If he steps onto Wrigley Field...you can bet the Wrigley Boo Birds will be out in full force.

I'm going to make a prediction and say that he won't even make the team. I don't see him wanting to play in the minors.

I have a feeling they are going to sign him, if not just to fill the seats because it is Sammy Sosa. They are far enough away from Chicago that I'm sure the negative publicity and hard feelings aren't even an issue there, or at least not as badly as it would be if he signed somewhere closer to Chicago. They need another bat in the lineup with Texeira the only one who hit over 16 home runs last year. The hitting coach for the Rangers is phenonemal and wants to work with Sosa... we'll be seeing him play the Cubs...however, I believe we play the Rangers in Texas toward the end of June, so he won't be coming to Wrigley.

How so much has changed since June of 2003 when Sammy got caught with that corked bat. That was the begining of the end for him.
And who was the manager of the visiting team that day at Wrigley Field?
Why it was Uncle Lou,managing the D-Rays!

His approach at the plate was never really the same after getting beaned in the head, either.

Sosa signed with them now. Too bad he's only joining because he wants to get to 600. http://www.mlb-rumors.blogspot.com/

The Rangers are interested in Bonds, too if the Giant's don't sign him!
Hmmm.... do the Giants have anyone that we would want, we trade Jones to them then they will have no NEED for Bonds!
