According to foxsports.com, Aramis is testing the free agent market. Wow. Unbelievable. Great way to start the offseason.

Fat *** Hendry does another outstanding job, you know I use to stand up for him because he got rid of Todd Hundley's contract, delt Hernandez, Hill, and Brubeck for Aram, and delt Choi for Lee, but since then he hasn't done crap. He gave Neifi 5 million, gave Rusch 2 years, gave Alfonseca another year, had no contignency plan for Prior and Wood when all knew the probability of them getting hurt, let Beltran play him for a fool so the Mets would pay more, let Furcal play him like a fittle, had a 100 million dollar payroll finish with the worst record in the NL, and last, but not least not getting the job done on Aram. I can't wait till we fire this fat sack of ****.

I'm not saying it isn't true but nothing in that article mentions Kinzer or Aramis declining any offers.
We'll find out in 1 1/2 hours....:( :(

Rick Vaughn would be a good #2, but I have a feeling he would only sign a 4 year deal with an out clause after 2 years.

We really don't need to put 16-18 million $ into the Ramirez basket for the next 5-7 years. He doesn't show up to play all the time (either mentally or physically). He does not run everything out, he has the tender hammy and is not a clubhouse leader by his own admission. Just think what he'll be like once he knows he has the big contract and all the years guaranteed. I like ARam but not at the price he thinks he should get. Not many other 3b options but we can use the money to shore up 2-3 other holes first. 2007 won't matter too much anyway, we need too many people. Plus, remember, big Z is gonna want more money soon. Him, I would pay. Just thoughts!

A new day...a new offseason starts today.....Get some players Jimbo.
scuba

Although I see your points, I would still like to have him. If for no other reasons than he is one of the best 3B in the league, there are no other good options at 3B to replace him with, and it took us forever to find a guy to replace Santo. He might not be a natural leader, but he puts up the numbers and gets the job done and his teammates don't ever complain about him. I just think personally it's crazy that Hendry let one of the best moves he ever made to get him in the first place just go by the waistside for probably a couple million dollars. I guess now we don't have any excuses for not getting some other good players though, right?

Paul Kinzer must really have a hard on for screwing the cubs over. That would be twice he put a number on the table and we matched it and then he backed out wanting more. I'm starting to hate him more then Boras

I couldn't agree more....nice hometown discount...I would bet Hendry could counter offer 6 @ 95 and he still turn it down.

I'm all for an agent doing his job to the best of his ability and getting his client the best deal possible, BUT when you set a firm offer and tell the other party we will accept this offer if given and the other party does it's dishonest and unethical. He did that with Furcal last year and backed up, you don't set up stipulations or perameters for a contract and back out. Atleast with Scott Boras he tells you flat out how it's going to be and is good enough to get it and not play games.

I agree...I'm beginning to dislike the way Kinzer does business. I thought Boras was bad...

Wow! I guess ARam is a team guy after all. I thought for sure he wanted 6-7 years at 17 million per. 5/70 or about 14 million per year fits nicely. Kind of surprised that he signed for that. Good start! Let's get a couple of starters, another reliever, a 2b guy (maybe Theriot can handle it?) and a CF'er. Hey, we're good to go.

Well now that there won't be a huge hole at 3B, who do we go after for CF?
scuba
Nov 12th 2006, 2:50 pm
Hey Drew! Why grumpy? ARam is back! Anyway, I think Drew would be good for CF if we don't overpay for him. Other than that, I'm not too sure since you know Pierre isn't coming back.

I was only grumpy after I spent the morning reading about ARam and "Beltran money." I'll be a lot better if the Bears manage to win tonight. Can Drew play CF every day though? Didn't the Dodgers have a rotation out there last year?
scuba
Nov 12th 2006, 3:21 pm
I'm with ya, drew. Hope the Bears win tonight. Drew can play CF from what I've heard, but I don't know if LA had a rotation with him. I would imagine he would need some days off every now and then.
