Jeff Weaver will take a one-year deal from the Mariners worth $8.325 million, the same amount he earned in his contract with the Angels last year.
He can make $1 million more in incentives: $300,000 each for 180 innings or 28 starts, and 190 innings or 30 starts, and $400,000 for 200 innings or 32 starts. The deal is expected to be finalized early next week. Weaver picked Seattle's offer over one from the Cardinals that would have paid him about $12 million for two years.
