Let's pretend for a minute.... pretend the Cubs are going to the World Series. Who would you want the opponent to be? The Yankees? The Red Sox? The White Sox? or other?

It would be a toss up... I'd love to watch the Cubs whomp on the Yankees, because they are the Yankees. I'd love to watch the Cubs and Red Sox for the historical stories behind it, although since they have won it in 1994, the historical value is a not as important anymore. The White Sox because it would be the most intense series in baseball in recent years! So, my overall vote would have to be the White Sox! But can you imagine the law enforcement that would have to be in Chicago for that series????????

I dont really give damn as long as they are in it....I was really hoping for a Cubs/Red Sox back in 03. The Yankees would equal way too much pressure and if it were the white sox, they'd prolly split the first six games and the 7th would get rained out.......I think i'll stick to that Cubs vs. Rangers scenario, at least maybe i'd get to see a game that way.

lol...Actually in the Lindy Baseball Preview I have, they have an article in it that gives a timeline of the upcoming season, and toward the end, where the Cubs are making their way to the World Series, they talk about how the devil is turning up the thermostat, then buying blankets and ice skates, and finally buying a ticket to Hawaii because Hell is freezing over!http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h220/hmcalvey/hell.jpg

I want to see a Cubs/White Sox series and the Cubbies doing a sweep....how sweet....:)

I have to say the yankees because if were going to end this drought we need to do it in style and that's by beating the best.

I agree, wave. Beating the White Sox would be sweet too though. The Red Sox would make for a nice World Series, but it wouldn't have the same great storyline that it would have had back in '03. Anybody is really fine with me as long as the Cubs come out with the victory! :D

The Royals (lol jk)

Hooray for Cubs and KC!!! I'll be flying back and forth!! That, and you'd probably still be able to get $5.00 Hy-Vee Section seats for the WS!

Cubs/White Sox would only be great if the Cubs won. I mean, sure it would be devastating if we didn't win against anyone, but I don't think I could take it if the Sox beat us in the World Series.

I understand the desire to beat someone like the Yanks, or Sox (either one) in the WS. But, I would rather just play someone that would be "easy" to beat. I'd hate to get to the series after all these years and then lose. Lets just have an easy series, and then play a bigger rival when we go again in 2008. :)

LMFAO!!!! You know what the sad part is, they might lose!!! Just kidding. But I'd rather play the Twins or Indians. But as someone just said, I don't really care as long as they get there (It could happen this year, things are funny in baseball as we all know. I hate when people say "baseball gods" but theres some truth in it and that truth is having luck on your side). Also anyone go or going to the Chicago Auto show? I just got back and it was ok but not as good as normal, they had a real APC and a AH-1Z Super Cobra Attack Helicopter but it was a replica. They had the Camaro Convertible and the Pontiac G-8 + a billion nothing cars like toyotas and hondas and blah:p . Got dinner at Giordano's on Belmont right near heaven and just got back 2 hours ago.:D

Our easiest matchup might be either the Royals or Devil Rays, but I'd like to see the Cubs make a four-game sweep of either the White Sox or the Yankees.

I think I would love to see the Cubs play the White Sox just for the simple fact of getting revenge from the 1906 World Series, and seeing my best friend cry like a schoolgirl. I would love for the Cubs to knock off the Yankee's but just seeing a Cubs World Series in my life is sweet just thinking of it. I had 2 chances 1984, 2003 I hope 3rd time is a charm.

You forgot 1989, when the Giants beat the Cubs' brains in 4-1, but I guess you're talking about when the Cubs had the World Series ticket nearly punched.

I concur with your sentiment.

But it would be really really really sweet if we beat the White Sox or Yankees.

I didnt forget 1989 because I actually went to game 2 the only game the Cubs won that series. I only brought up 1984 and 2003 because Steve Garvey broke my heart in 84 and Alex Gonzales broke it in 03.

Steve Bartman broke mine in '03

I have been browsing through videos on Youtube, I put in cubs, its a shame that these three videos come up when you put that in.

I only watched that once since 03. I cant even bring myself to do it. That pain in my stomach still hurts thinking what could have been.

I just watched this whole thing again for the first time since it happened, feeling nervous like the outcome would be different or something........then literally feeling like I was going to puke. It's just amazing how everything turned in an instant. The one thing that caught my attention that I never really thought of before was the fact that even though Bartman shouldn't have gone after the ball, the person who is really at fault is the umpire. If you watch it, he is in perfect position on the play to call it fan interference, but he doesn't do it. Maybe I'm a biased Cubs fan, but watching the video, it sure likes like the ump missed the call. Gonzo obviously didn't help the matter either. It was just weird seeing Pierre start the whole inning and then Lee getting the big hit to tie it, knowing later they became Cubs. Maybe Lee will get a chance to do that FOR us in the future instead of against us.

One thing I know is that I would love to see Prior get back to that old form and get that intensity back in him. He's a much better pitcher when he has that. Feed off the emotion.

I assume you meant 2004?

Anywho... for some reason, I would like to see the Cubbies face the Twins in the World Series.

I don't really know why though.

Personally, I'd prefer the Cubs 2007 (hypothetical) World Series opponent to be either the Blue Jays or the Tigers.

Who cares as long as we go and win. I would love to see Texas so I would have a shot to go. If Hell would freeze over with a Cubs-Royals World Series, what would happen with a Cubs-Devil Rays World Series?

If the Cubs finish behind the Pirates this year, I will cut the hair off of you know where with a butter knife.

Ummmm I do have faith in the Cubs this year that they will finish above the Pirates. I just want to know how you plan on proving to everyone you have done this in the case the Cubs don't finish better because I really don't want to see pics.....:p

Madhouse wouldn't even begin to describe it. They'd have to call police in from neighboring states to help. It would be amazing, though.
