It's the modern-day version of the ex-Cub factor. Once your playing days on the North Side are done, you trade in your glove for a microphone.

Fox is set to announce this week that it has hired three former Cubs—Mark Grace, Joe Girardi and Eric Karros—as analysts for its coverage of Major League Baseball

The three will rotate each week, either providing game analysis or working on Fox's Saturday pregame show.

Joe Buck and Tim McCarver remain Fox's No. 1 team, with Grace, Girardi and Karros joining play-by-play broadcasters Thom Brennaman, Kenny Albert, Josh Lewin and Matt Vasgersian.

Girardi, who had an awkward split with the Marlins despite being named 2006 National League Manager of the Year in his first season on the job, also will rejoin the YES network for game and studio analysis of the New York Yankees.

Grace, who finished his 16-year playing career with 2,445 hits and a World Series title with Arizona, will also begin his fourth season as the TV analyst for the Diamondbacks.

Karros, who hit .286 for the 2003 Cubs, retired after playing for Oakland in 2004. He then provided analysis for Fox's playoff coverage in 2004 and joined ESPN the next season. Karros also works on a pregame show for the Los Angeles Dodgers, for whom he played in 1991-2002.

Fox also will announce the return of Diamondbacks outfielder Eric Byrnes, who will contribute a monthly feature on Fox's pregame show that takes a whimsical look at life in the big leagues.

Fox's weekly coverage begins April 7 with a slate that includes the Twins-White Sox game. The network has expanded its coverage this season from 18 to 26 weeks.

I have always hated watching games covered by Fox, but maybe it won't be so bad now that we have Cubbie Blue Blood in the booth!

I have a hard time watching a Cubs game when its not on WGN. I don't care for Joe Buck. But who I really hate to hear speak about the Cubs is Joe Morgan. This guy sure could play in his day but he needs to give announcing up. Has anybody else noticed how much Joe Morgan dislikes the Cubs? Everything out of his mouth is a negative so I just tend to mute the TV when he is on because he is ignorant.

Or count how many times he brings up Steve Bartman in one game! We've all let it rest, why can't he?

These are the stations that I mute during Cubs games:

WGN, CSN = when white sox announcers are on ---- You can put it on the board...........................YESSSSSSSSSS! gets pretty annoying, very, and the white sox fans love them, that's the funny part.

Fox - Joe buck, just rips the cubs apart.

Oh, I forgot to add that quote in too, now it's stuck in my head. I seriously mute the TV though, and sometimes turn on the radio.

My dad's a sox fan and he says "he gone" all the time to annoy me. It's awful grammar and has no sentence structure and actually doesn't make sense because they guy does usually come back in the next 2-3 innings to bat again. I try to use this when arguing with sox fans, but they don't know what grammar or verbs are so I guess its pointless lol.

By the way, does anyone else think hawk's accent thing is fake or is it just me?

I try not too watch many Sox games but when I do the T.V. gets muted as well!!!

Oh yea, and one more thing that annoys me about Hawk is how he calls the Sox "The Good Guys" all the time, more like "The A-Holes" in my book.

Actually, the White Sox are the bad guys in my book. And I think Hawk may be from Alabama or something like that.
