I don't know if this is old news, but I think its an interesting topic. Here's an article from the Trib:

Basically, the owner of the Wolves is a life long Cubs fan and wants the Cubs to be owned by someone from Chicago, who actually wants to win. A novel idea, huh?

I think ownership is one of the major problems with the Cubs. For too long now, this team has been run with the major motive of turning a profit. I would welcome a new owner, who just wants to win, with open arms.

A lot of people wanted to get the cubs since the begining of last season from what I saw. I read something about Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks considering it, Rudi Giuliani, and even Mr. Cub himself, Ernie Banks. But I'm not sure what to think about a new owner. I know the Trib was bumping up this years payroll to like $110 million I think. And thats pretty big. But I'm not certain about that.

It's nice to finally see some money being spent after so many years. Whoever ends up as owner, needs to have some money they are willing to spend and actually care about the Cubs winning. We're not the lovable losers anymore.

It would be great to have a fan own the team. We can only hope that it works out for him and the team. Now lets get some pitching that doesn't break down so much. :p :p :p

Report today is that Gannett publishing is also interested in the Tribune company and possibly parts of if not all of its assets...Cubs included. Personally I hope not as I would much rather an individual get the Cubs...out from under a corporate umbrella.

If I come across the link again I will post it.
