I just watched a really good interview Comcast Sports Net did with Ryno. After watching this, I am more excited than ever to get down to Peoria and watch GOOD FUNDAMENTAL BASEBALL!
One thing that really I found interesting.... the interviewer asked him "You are forever a part of the Chicago Cubs family. How hard was it the last few years to watch this team on the field?" Ryno took a deep breath and said it was rough. He made a point that the Chicago Cubs logo was one of the most recognizable logos around the world. There is no reason why that team should not be "up there" and competitors every year, there is no reason they shouldn't be one of the top teams and it was really hard to watch the franchise and team actually slipping the other way. (While he was talking they were showing many clips of the poor fundamental play over the last couple of years).
He was also asked about his HOF speech (http://archive.wgnradio.com:8080/ramgen/wgnam/shows/sp_central/audio/sandberghof050731sc.rm) and how he completely blew people out of the water with what he said and how he said it. He said that it was all from his head, how he was brought up in the game and how it has changed. This is a guy with 100% class and all egos are put aside.
For those who haven't heard (or read) his Hall of Fame induction speech:
you can read it here (http://www.cubsnet.com/node/526)
Or listen to it here (http://archive.wgnradio.com:8080/ramgen/wgnam/shows/sp_central/audio/sandberghof050731sc.rm)
Comcast usually repeats it's shows throughout the day, so I'm sure the interview will be replayed throughout the day and evening tonight. If you get comcast, be sure to try to catch this interview!
Also, Ryno is scheduled to do an interview with WSCR the Score Thursday (mid morning). You can listen live at www.670thescore.com. I don't normally like to listen to the score, but they are talking baseball right now!!!!!
