I don't really expect any affirmative answers, but does anyone here fence?
That would be with swords, by the way.

No, but it looks like a blast. I've always been partial to curling myself.

I'm assuming that you aren't being sarcastic. *grins* Some people do feel that way about fencing. It really is a great deal of fun, but it can be pretty tough, too. It's a great way to get and stay in shape. Besides, sticking people with swords appeals to the human nature, I think.
I've always wanted to try curling, actually. My Dad thinks it's the stupidest sport invented.

Fencing drives me nuts. We used to have to do cricket training with the fencers on the other side of the hall and it was utterly impossible to concentrate with all the noise. This year we have trampolining next to us, which is also distracting, but in a far more pleasant way...

I never have, but always wanted to.I have always loved old classic swashbuckler movies, starring Errol Flynn. The sword duels between Flynn and Basil Rathbone in "The Adventures of Robin Hood",and "Captain Blood"
always made me want to pick up a sword!!
[most of you young Cub fans probably don't know who Errol Flynn is...lol!]

Ah, I love Errol Flynn! Though his style of movie swordfighting is not that similar to competitive fencing, it is always a blast to watch. "Master of Ballantrae" (spelling off, most likely) was one of my favorite Flynn movies.
As for the annoyingness of fencing, at least pertaining to the noise, dundeecub, I apologize for my fellow fencers, but it is rather difficult to fence silently. It has to be better than practicing in a building with Judo students, though. "EEEAHAHA!....ELALEKALAK!!....KRKAKAALABEIAWL!" and so on. Whatever. Perhaps you should try fencing, though. You might find it not so loud from inside the mask.
