Out of the other five central division teams and the White Sox, which player(s) do you like or respect the most? Why?

I hate the Redbirds, but it's hard not to have alot of respect for Albert Pujols.
The numbers he has put up in his first six seasons are mind blowing!!
He also seems to be a pretty classy guy off the field.

I used to respect Pujols. But then he started watching his home runs before trotting slowly around the bases.
I would have to say David Eckstein is the opponent I respect the most. He's works hard. He tires pitchers. I'm glad he got MVP of the WS last year.
This years MVP of the WS.... Derek Lee!
GO CUBS!!!

I have to agree! Not only is Pujols starting to show boat, he even started sounding a little Barry like in the media. Like when he basically stated that Howard did not deserve the MVP, then he backtracked that statement.
I love the way Eckstein plays the game, so I would have to go with Eckstein.
Jermaine Dye is not to bad either.

David Eckstein is a good choice. I've always liked him myself, mainly because he isn't a phenomenally talented athlete, or a physical giant, but just a normal guy who works harder than anyone else. The first time I saw him in a game was in Philly two years ago. He hit a ninth inning home run off of Billy Wagner.
I kind of like Ryan Freel, too. At least the way he plays.

I would have to say Eckstein as well. I know he plays for the Cards which gives people a reason to not like him, but if you've followed him at all and know about his family, how can you not pull for the guy. I've always liked Biggio as well. I love the passion he has and the way he plays the game. Both guys are class acts.

I can tolerate the Brewers the most. I grew up in Wisconsin and they were an AL team.
Players around the division......Griffey is the only one that comes to mind. Mainly just because I feel bad for the guy. He could have been chasing Aaron with Bonds right now if it weren't for all the injuries.

I have tons of respect for Eckstein, tough out, pesky hitter, solid with the glove, team guy. Then there's Griffey who's had a stellar career, always admired him growing up. I like Dye and Crede as well. Other than that, meh.

Jason Bay from Pittsburgh is the only one I like and respect. I can't stand anyone else.

Bay is a good pick. I didn't think of him. For his sake, I wish he would get traded. (Like straight up for Jacque Jones...yeah, right)

I like Bay as well. If I could go outside the division I would say Matt Holliday.

That would be awesome if we could trade Jones (and maybe a minor leaguer) for Bay! I would be thrilled :D .

I honestly have to say the Milwaukee Brewers
They have done a great job the past couple of years after the Wendy Selig era and have done everything right recently.
They have the best young talent in the NLC, a good coaching staff, and amazing upper level management that actually shows how they appreciate fan support by keeping ticket prices at a reasonable level. They've developed a competitive team by building from within, despite not having signed a premier free agent and having traded away players like CLee, Podsenik, and Overbay.

I'd say Griffey.

Nice post. I'd like to see the Brewers win the Wild Card. (and the Cubs finish first, that is) It'll probably be a team from the East, though.

Why? What's wrong with Jones, the guy has been here for a year. Bay might have better fielding stats, but Bay isn't much better than Jacque. Sorry if I sound like a jerk, everyone needs to give jones a chance, I have been saying it since day one on this board. Trade Jacque for this guy that guy. Give the guy a chance. No wonder he doesn't like chicago, all the fans hate him for no reason.

Most of the talk about trading JJ that has been rumored this off season, was started because of JJ'S,talking about how unhappy he was about his time as a Cub last season. He all but asked to be traded.I have been one of the people who said all along if he does not want to be a Cub,don't let the door hit you in the A** on your way out.As far as JJ'S value as a player,I think he had a pretty good year last season. And from what I've read and heard lately,I think he has had a change of heart.I hope he is a happy camper, and has at least as good a year as last year. But I don't think any of the talk about trading him on this board had anything to do with"hating him for no reason"

Considering that we don't know for sure weather or not he requested to be traded, and that he had a pretty good season last year (except the defense, which was the effect of having shoulder problems) I really like JJ and I want to keep him.

I like Jones too. He had a good year last year, and seems to have a good attitude coming into this one. However, Bay is better than Jones.

Yeah, I'd rather have Bay. The walks alone make him considerably more valuable to me.
I am, however, content with Jones for the present.
