I would much rather see them spend that kind of money on quality starting pitching.

Is this a reliable source?.....I'm for it if it doesn't interfere with getting pitching.

I was hoping Jim would concentrate on pitching first after signing ARam.

we were getting an extra big bat regardless it really doesn't matter if we do it first or last. If anything spending the money on the bats now is good because we can give our full effort to pitching and not have in the back of our minds that we still need a bat.

I do not know how relialble it is, I thought you would want to know. he is too injury prone and is not worth anything close to drew. I don't know, I would rather see quality pitching before injury prone players.

He's not worth that much. Why pay him that much when we already have Jones in right field, who has proved himself, and when you look at the stats, did better then Drew last season.

I say, keep Jones, spend the money on pitching.

The more I think about this the more I think we should go after Matthews Jr. or Roberts (should be able to get them fairly cheap for 1-3 years) and give Theriot a shot at 2B. The fact is, Soriano is going to be way out of our price range, we aren't going to give Drew that much money, and you would think maybe after this year Pie would be ready. Plus, trying to trade for anybody (Wells, Crawford, etc.) is going to cost us an arm and a leg and we will still have to worry about paying them big bucks later. Go after Schmidt or Zito and maybe one other decent SP, strengthen the bench, and leave some money to take care of Zambrano down the road. There, I think I'm done.... :p

Jones sucks compared to Drew, one Drew is way better defensively, there OBP difference is HUGE, and drew had more rbi. Jones is ok, but I doubt he does as well next year as he did this year. Hopefully I'm wrong, but I agree pitching has to be top priority.

If there is a way to trade Jones and then sign Drew...I say do it and then go get Roberts, Matthews, or even Pierre for CF

I say only do that if we can get a good pitcher, but that's not very guraunteed.

My first post. Just testing to get a feel on how stuff works. BTW, being here in Cardinal country, I have reservations about Drew. If he walked from the Dodgers, a team that was playoff caliber, and leaving that kind of money behind, that bothers me. Find someone else that would be eager to play for us.....like C. Lee.
