According to ESPN.com, the Red Sox bid $42 million just to negotiate with this guy. $42 million?? I'm glad we lost out on this one. That's a ridiculous price to pay just to negotiate a contract for somebody. More money to spend on Schmidt and Zito!

Holy cow! What are the Red Sox thinking? I just went to espn.com and they said it was the biggest bid by far. That's amazing. If it's going to cost that much for this guy and you don't even have him signed to a contract yet, I'm glad we lost on this one too.
