He has a lot of up side with his power, but his deffense and his strikeouts along with age hurt him. just curious to see what people think.

I am just throwing it out there, so before anyone goes crazy and bites my head off.

He may just be. People in power don't like to admit mistakes. When Jim Hendry hired Lou , Bob Brenly and Joe Gerardi both interviewed for the job. If Jim hires either Bob or Joe , wouldn't the logical question be , " Why didn't you hire him first time ? "

With Jim's job being questioned by most fans , he may be very hesitant to open himself up to any such questions.

Quade is a Chicago guy and a personal friend of Hendry's.

If he gets the job I think I may become a Brewer fan!

I watched 3 of the 4 games vs SD and I still believe with exception of their first basemen, they do not have a player that could start for our team. Ludwick???? maybe. Needless to say they swept us. It became comical today when nobody covered home and SD scored their 5th run. I know offense is only part of the game, but it wasnt like we were throwing our AA team at them with exception of our bullpen. We have made some trades and added a LH bat in Dewitt and gotten some good prospects at least, but those huge, ugly contracts still remain.

This whole Lou thing is getting ridiculous. I am enjoying how he is coming off completely disconnected and unconcerned. I hope people realize that it has been this the last couple years. I have no idea if he wants to leave but still wants paid and is trying to force Ricketts to fire him and they don't want to for respect.

What the hell is going on here ?

This is freaking comical !! Our team is looking more and more like a joke of an organization !! I was hoping it to become more professional and mirror the Yankees instead of the Indians as portrayed in Major League ! With every interveiw Lou does he looks the fool and the whole damn organization looks even more the fool . He is taking this with his typical shoulder shrug and laugh. How the hell can anyone playing under him take this serious ?

If our next manager is already in the organization , Ryno or Brenly , why the hell not send Lou along and get moving to the next chapter ? If they are not going to hire either of these guys and are waiting for Gerardi then why not let Lou go away and have Trammel carry it out with Hendry picking the players so he can look at them ?

I am getting avery creepy feeling about Ricketts. If he will not let Lou go because of a few bucks , ,,, , URG !!!! We are screwed ! If he is thinking this is a fine way to run a baseball team ,,, then WE ARE SCREWED !!

All I keep hoping is there is a great plan here that I can't see and it will work out in the end . I am really doubting it and fear we may be looking this team crumbling as fast as Wrigley does !

I am about fed the hell up and feel another twenty year check out coming on !!

It's a small move, but I like it. It allows the Cubs to dump some money, and to see if Barney can play at the big league level. Getting younger is what the Cubs need to do. The Cubs have the next two months to find out if Barney is their utility infielder off the bench, for next season. The Cubs need a cheap option to back up Castro...Barney may be that guy. He's not going to hit for power...but Barney has speed, a solid glove up the middle, and can hit for average.

As for the player the Cubs got in return...Crawford is a great athlete, who's yet to fill out his frame. He's an athlete who needs to learn how to be a baseball player.

Next out the door...Jeff Baker. Followed closely by Nady!

The bad news here is that the team is still more than a year away from being able to begin a true rebuilding process; the only big contract coming off the books this winter is Derrek Lee.

While shortstop Starlin Castro and righty Andrew Cashner have given the club a minor glimpse of the future, the problem is runs scored (the Cubs are currently 12th in the NL ). Josh Vitters hasn't lived up to expectations, so Brett Jackson is the only guy in the system who can seemingly contribute offensively in the next couple of years.
There's better news on the pitching level—but much of that goes to the Cubs' hopefully making the decision to return Cashner to the rotation. After selecting him with their first pick in 2008 as the top college closer in the county, the Cubs made the risky decision to convert him to a starter, but they handled the transformation in a way that should be a template for every team considering the same. To toss all of that work aside for a 60-70 inning reliever would be a sad waste of fantastic execution.
Another potential answer could be—believe it or not—Jeff Samardzija. His bonus was a little ridiculous, and his career major-league ERA is 5.89, but at Triple-A Iowa, he's added an 87-90 mph cutter that finally gives him a second pitch. This should help him be more successful the next time he's pitching at Wrigley Field. Also at Triple-A, righty Jay Jackson should be able to contribute in a starting or relief role, but the inability to score runs could plague this team for years to come.

The Cards and Reds are battling in all ways on the field and we need to pick sides. I was indifferent at first then LaRooooooosssssaaaa mumbled something about wanting a discipline action taken against the Reds . That is like the jerk that starts a fight gets punched in the mouth then presses charges. I say I am picking Dusty ! At least he was a man about the whole thing .

If the Cubs have a strength in the minors scouting department it's picking out rough pitchers and turning them into true prospects.

Archer now has a sub-2 era between Daytona and Tennessee. He's wild sometimes, but seems to have the stuff that doesn't generate alot of hits or good contact to compensate for his wildness(5 HR in 120 IP this year), kind of like how Z used to be pitch.

I wouldn't hesitate to put him as the #2 prospect on the Cubs and he's got a good chance of being a top 100 prospect this year.
