Cubs sign Aaron Miles

2yr 4.9mm deal. It's safe to say someone is getting traded. DeRosa?

I'd have to say Cedeno is gonna be the odd man out. I expect a trade for Peavy will get done at some point.

I hope so- it has been said he is a bad clubhouse guy just like Marquis-

here's my take:
Derosa is expendable and is traded to the Indians for two or three young pitchers, those pitchers are flipped to San Diego in a deal for Peavy...it seems everything is lining up for Peavy to be a Cub let's hope it gets done

He can play in the outfield too, so can DeRosa, so if the Cubs don't find anyone to play right field, having one or the other in the outfield (even switching back and forth during the season, I'm pretty sure both could handle that, at least DeRo can) wouldn't be a bad option. Miles does seem pretty versatile too so they may end up trading DeRo afterall. I hope not though.

And Miles is a switch hitter, which will be nice in the late innings! Either as a Pinch Hitter, Defensive Replacement, or Pinch Runner. Dont forget Lou likes to use Marquis as an occasional pinch runner or pinch hitter!

We need more power and if he can hit for power. If Lou plays the same game he did last year then we will be worse off.

ICcubfan Dec 31st 2008 11:45 am

Bradley will be the lefty bat in RF with Koske moving to center-

LeeEila's/rant Dec 31st 2008 1:54 pm

So what will be the line up ?

Miles

TheRiot / Fontenot

Rammy

Bradley

D-Lee

Soriano

Fuku / Johnson

Soto

I don't know , we may need one more bat. Can Miles play all year ?

basically Miles is D-Ro, a cheaper and younger D-Ro.

He plays 7 positions to DeRos 5-6, better batting average, switch hitter, better defense, but less power.

Lets face it, power isnt what the Cubs are lacking
