I like Hudson. He does do alot of the little things that you don't see in the stat sheet(gets an extra base, good clubhouse guy, etc), on top of being a solid hitter and above average defender. But the Cubs need isn't at 2B. The need is in RF. Besides, signing Hudson wouldn't be a significant upgrade at 2B. We have DeRosa and Fontenot, both alot cheaper then Hudson.
A lot of the little things that were missing in the playoffs. Besides if you go after a guy like Dunn you can help mask his defensive liability in RF a little more.
Maybe not an upgrade with the bat but an upgrade in the field for sure. The guys range is insane. Besides I am sure the Cubs could pick him up cheap. It is the year for it and Fontenot could be used in a trade. Derosa could go back to have he does and play everywhere.
Hudson also cant keep himself going for 162 so this gives MD a chance to do what he did last year.
