Hi Jack,

Great article. I won't have a lot to say because I pretty much agree with you on all points. I've been to 3 Spring Training games this year and I've liked what I've seen. I am extremely happy that DLee is hitting well and I think he will continue on through the season--and maybe the postseason. He overcame his late starts 2 years ago, and I think he's conquered it now. As far as Aramis, He's doing great now, because it's springtime in AZ! He is used to this kind of weather and it's very conducive to his ability to focus and hit HRs. But, it's not going to be this sunny and warm in April and May in Chicago. He is my favorite, but I'll admit that cold weather holds him back.

They need to build a "Lost" like shield around Aramis and put a heater inside of it to keep him warm!

Nah...he has his ski mask that he wears if it is below seventy degrees out there! (LOL)

Interesting article, but my concern is Soriano.Low average and low OBP.Not exactly what one looks for in a leadoff hitter. This signing has the potential to haunt the Cubs for many years.Unless he agrees to hit lower in the lineup, maybe 5th or 6th,this will be a problem indefinitely. Is there another successful leadoff hitter in the majors whose specialties are Ks and HRs?
Otherwise,I agree with everything you wrote,it's right on.

Yeah...I intentionally left Soriano out of there because I'd imagine he's trying to become more comfortable in CF than anything so I gave him a pass. His K's and low OBP is alarming, and as you said...I would think he'd be moved down in the order in the years to come.

I can't think of a successful leadoff hitter in the majors with those specialties but then again...how many leadoff hitters are 40/40 candidates every year? You win some, you lose some.

I appreciate your kind words on my article. As baseball season ramps up I'm going to primarily write about the Cubs, so I hope you keep checking out the site.

What is so encouraging is that Lou has a plan and a system. He looks to be a good talent evalulator and has made good choices on personnel.Hendry looks to have done his job also as we are deep at all positions. They look to have a solid team on paper.Let them play and lets see how it goes.Exciting ain't it,FOR ONCE.

You forgot to mention Da Gooz! He's poised for a breakout, I think (read: hope).
