Next moves?

With Pie and Cedeno still on the roster, I think it's obvious Big Jim still has a few moves up his sleeve. With Peavy and Roberts most likely being pipe dreams, what are the next few moves going to be? I think Big Jim is set on adding a veteran bat off the bench(Millar?), another bullpen arm, and one more starter. What does everyone else think?

there are still some decent SP, RP, and role players out there.

and i agree that Cedeno and Pie are likely to be traded as they are both out of options. So they will either make the team, or be traded. There are still moves that will be made. I cant wait to see what they are.

Shouldn't you be asking about the Brewers and not the Cubs?

I just don't get the feeling that Big Jim and Lou are convinced Marshall can be a full time starter. Last season the Cardinals got lucky just before the season started, and were able to sign Kyle Lohse to a one year deal. Maybe this years Kyle Lohse can be John Garland.

Maybe the Brewers can pick him up and he can replace CC. That would be "Point You" for saying to pick him up if he has a great season.

I think Garland would be a pretty good insurance plan if we cant get Peavy, i havent really understood why his name hasnt surfaced. At the same time i'm very comfortable with Marshall in that 5th slot

Yea, i'm not sure why Garland hasn't gotten more attention. He's a solid pitcher that eats up lots of innings, and he's still in his 20's. With that being said, I agree with you that Marshall would be just fine as the Cubs #5 starter. I just think the Cubs lack of lefties in the bullpen will make Big Jim sign or trade for another starting pitcher.

I think we can stand pat with where we are now. I would save what inventory we have to see how spring breaks out and if we need help mid season we have the chips to work with.
