1.5 out of Wild Card!!!!!

Wow, a really productive day today and the Cubs didn't even play! San Diego lost today, putting us 1.5 games back from the Wild Card lead and only 3 back of Milwaukee! This Cardinals game is CRUCIAL! Wow, we need the momentum back!

With Zambrano pitching and Derek back I think a win today is in the bag.

We are only 1.5 games back, but Atlanta leapfrogged us into second place with their win last night to push us to third place....only being a game back. Fasten your seatbelts, this race is getting close!

Forget the wildcard for now, watch out BrewCrew here we come. Think where we would be if not for the 7-13 start.

I really try not to think of that because THAT is exactly what I didn't want to be thinking NOW back when they were slumping so badly! Many people kept saying "It's early"...but I was really hoping those games weren't going to make or break it for us come september! Every game counts, in my opinion, even the "early" ones.

Also, it's nice to know that we have a shot at a backup even if the division goes to the Brewers. Steve Stone was saying on his program yesterday that the Cubs would have to play over .600 ball to win the division. The early part of the year took away the fate being put in our hands, now, the cubs need to play outstanding ball, and so do the opposition of the Brewers. We need to rely on the other teams in the league now to help us knock off the Brewers.

I still think the Brewers will start tailing of in the second half. The are young and I think that will catch up with them. I think a big key is how both teams come out of this week, since we both play the same teams.

Six-hundred ball is possible. We just have to win two out of every three games in each series, with some four-game splits.

.600 ball is possible, but starting today, the cubs play 20 games in a row. the bonus thing for the cubs is that there is enough versitility within all of the players where people can be mixed and matched so most of the guys can get days off and hopefully stay fresh.

the last couple of games kinda worry me as it shows that they are vulnerable to going back into a hitting slump at any time. I just wanted some huge momentum going into St. Louis. I hope the day off really refreshed them up and they remembered their bats!

Steve Stone was very not-so-positive in his comments about the cubs going to the postseason via the division, and it kinda bursted my bubble a little. I like Stoney as he puts it on the line and doesn't bs his way through questions. He said "possible? yes. Probable? probably not" in the question of if the Cubs will win the division. Gosh, I hope he is wrong. Sure, he is just a person with an opinion, but he has a lot more baseball knowledge than I do, so I kinda lean toward listening to his explanations of why. He pointed out that yes, the Brewers are young, but if you look at the Cubs team, so are they with Theriot, Fontenot, Marmol, Marshall, Pagan.
