Marshall

It's going to get lost now in the midst of another ugly loss. But Sean Marshall gave the Cubs yet another strong spot start on the road today. Marshall has done well for the Cubs in every role he's been asked to do. Everyone talks about Samardzija as the Cubs #5 starter for next season. But Marshall has to be ahead of him in line for that position. He's a big lefty with finesse "stuff". He will be a solid starting pitcher in this league!

Marshall, Sammy, might not be in the rotation next year.

Zambrano, Harden, Lilly are locks.

Marquis is still under contract.

And Demps may be resigned.

if they keep all 5 guys, they are our 5 man pitching rotation.

That being said, Marshakk did a hell of a job for us

I absolutely could not agree more. What impresses me the most about Marshall isn't just that he's pitched well... it's that he's pitched well despite being thrown around so much. From Iowa to Chicago... from the 'pen to the rotation. He has done everything that they've asked of him, and he's done it with remarkable poise.

Harden won't be here next year . His " kid glove " handling is too hard on everyone else. You want a guy that will take the ball each time he is asked.

Ofcourse Harden will be here next season. He's under contract for a very reasonable price. And he's pitched very well for the Cubs since coming here. Next season he won't be handled with so much care. Have we forgotten how well he's pitched for us?

Yea, it's tough to say what the Cubs SP situation will be next year, even tougher to say how they will spend what money they have since not too many major salaries will be coming off the books, and there will be alot of pay raises next year to contacts already on the books (Soriano, Fukudome, Aram, Z, Marquis).

Let's not forget Marshall's nice bunt! That's being a complete player. Too often you see pitchers looking horrible trying to bunt.
