I personally don't really care about W's and L's..heck the 1984 team won what maybe 9 games that whole spring traning and won a division title. I just want them to work on fundamentals, timing and baserunning. April 2nd is when I will start to care about the standings.

While winning is not important, player developement is paramount. That being said I still do not want to see the players with a laisse fair attitude, and would like to see them care about winning.

As well as getting back into the flow of things I think it will be critical to make sure everyone in the clubhouse is getting along and to try and build the best team chemistry they can.

Its about both.Your question is loaded.Lou is trying to instill the "Swagger" in this team.Of course its about tuning up but they need to develop a Winning attitude and weed out the losers.

I think that competition between some players for a job is good as well because the guy who ends up winning will know that he can't go through to many bad stretches in the year otherwise he will be replaced.

I totally agree. Winning is the last thing they care about in fact i hope they lose every game. Its all about getting pitchers ready, hitters timing down and as you said building a team atmosphere.
