Cubs Ship Heilman to Arizona

The Diamondbacks acquired Aaron Heilman from the Cubs, according to Jon Heyman of SI.com. Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports says the Cubs obtained minor leaguers Scott Maine and Ryne White in return.

Tim listed Heilman as a non-tender candidate last month, so it's not a surprise that the Cubs were willing to part with the 31-year-old righty. He pitched to a 4.11 ERA in 72.1 innings with the Cubs last year, allowing 68 hits and 34 walks, while striking out 65.

Heilman has started before, but GM Josh Byrnes suggests to the Arizona Republic that the D'Backs see him as a reliever.

I think this puts the Cubs 40-man at 34, not counting Neal Cotts and Chad Fox.

The Cubs need to protect their rule V eligible guys tommorrow.

I suspect that's a decent pair of prospects for the nearly useless (to the Cubs) Heilman.

Actually they are 23 and 24 years old and low in the system for their ages, so not true prospects.

You need to add another chapter to your Felix Pie/Ronny Cedeno saga.

Bradley is rumored to be headed to the Rays. I wonder how bad of a beating we are going to take on that one.

Jim had a bad year last year but I beleive Lou was no help either.

question is, will we see another situation like we did with Wuertz this yer if Heilman has success?

Fans here hated Wuertz and celebrated when he was delt. He had a good year and those same fans were mad cause he was traded when we needed bullpen help. If Heilman has a good year, will fans once again pile on Hendry for trading a guy we could have used if our bullpen craps its pants? My guess is yes
