Spring Training Thread

time to start one

The good news is that it looks like that unless he totally craps the bed, Cashner is more or less guarenteed a rotation spots and Quade loves him as a starter. You could do worse for a back of the rotation than Wells and Cashner.

I am surprised that nobody is wondering about who would be the back-up to Castro at short. Will Castro be able to stay on the team all year and not go back to the minors for a spell ? There is no way they will allow him to make another 30 errors .

Anyone know when the first time the Cubs will be on WGN or Comcast in spring training?

You sure? I didn't see them on either channel this afternoon. WGN had movies and CSN had women's college basketball.

Sorry I should have told you on the radio. They are on again today 1:30 720 am or your local affiliate.

You missed Garza doing his thing , loading the bags then over-throwing a fastball for a granny .

Everything that Big Z did to drive us all nuts , this dude does too !

The Cubs main weakness is offense. The cubs will lose alot more games because they are not scoring runs versus bad defense.

Castro has well above-average range, even better than Elvis Andrus. Above-average range = getting to more balls in play = higher probability of errors, especially when he's throwing from deep in the hole.

Once again, the stupidest thing the Cubs can do is send him to the minors and not let him improve and get used to Wrigley Field. But then again, this team put their best pitching prospect in the bullpen and put the best-hitting catcher in the league in a straight-platoon with the worst-hitting player in the major leagues so who knows.

Don't worry Blake Sandburg will fix this

Yeah, because what you wanna do with your 21 year old short stop, who just played his first big league season and hit .300, is throw him in the minors. It should do wonders for his confidence!

Darwin Barney, Augie Ojeda and Luis Montanez, will battle for that role. My money is on Barney...and he should do well in that role.
