What? ... no birthday wishes to Kerry 'Kid "K" ' Wood who turnes 32 today? One of my favorite ex-Cubs. Nobody who saw the 06 May 1998 game against George Jetson's Dogs will ever forget it. Right up there with Harvey Haddix' "perfect game" as best ever pitched.
Wood, who was 20 when he struck out 20 of the Dogs, shares with little Bobby Feller the honor of being the only two human beings to ever strike out their age. Bob was 17 (seventeen!!!) when he accomplished the feat. Likely one of baseball's most difficult to break records.
