Division not over yet?

I know it's highly unlikely, but the division may not be out of reach yet. The Cards face the Marlins over the next 3 days (not an easy series with the fish still fighting to make the playoffs as well) and if somehow the Marlins can sweep the Cards and the Cubs sweep the Brewers, it makes the Cards series this weekend huge. A sweep of the Cards as well, would put the Cubs only 3 games back with a couple weeks left to play.

I know it's not likely all this happens, but I'm still trying to hold out whatever hope is left.

It appears Guzman might miss the rest of the season with triceps injury (again)

I don't see this team being able to put six wins together.

Well, the Cubs' elimination numbers are 11 for the division (Cardinals' magic number) and 13 for the Wild Card. They need to pull off a Rockies-style run to close out the month in order to have a chance at either the division or Wild Card.

I like your positive thinking, Scuba...and this game is all about the unbelivable happening. However, I really think it's going to take a very big miracle for the cubs to make the playoffs again. Soriano has not been very effective at all this year....but with the Cubs shutting him down and having him have surgery tomorrow definately sends a white flag message to me from the team.

Hmmmm....looking at the standings, the division may not be reachable.....BUT, with our late recent streak, and 4 games against the Giants coming up.... we may have a shot at the wild card with us only 5.5 games out if it (an only four losses behind Colorado).... That series may be the biggest series of the year! However, a lot is going to depend on the series against the red-hot cardinals.

I am watching the cardinals/marlins game right now...and almost find myself rooting for the (gulp) CARDINALS so the fish lose ground in the wild card!

The Cards may be in trouble. Their bats have gone to sleep . If the pitching falls it may not be good for them. Look for a rhree and out for them.,

It was music to my ears to hear the cardinals announcers actually say they are concerned with the Cubs coming to town and our recent hot streak while they are on a downward slide......
