Garza

Terrible Trade. Archer, Lee, Fuld, Guyer, and Chirinos.

How long has everyone been screaming for a lead off guy ? We just traded off our best option in Lee.

It would be no problem for a number one but I am afraid Garza is just a guy to go along with all of our others.

I don't get it is this cubs.com?? Why must we balk and bicker after every dang move Hendry makes?? I looked at the rotation this past season and looking into this season we all know Dempster can get an easy 12-14 wins, Zambrano it all depends maybe another 9-14 wins?? I am not sold on his "anger management turnaround" I like the fact the Cubs are making adequate moves but not breaking the bank either. We all knew Ricketts weren't going to give Hendry a blank check. We don't know anymore than the players whats going to happen in 2011. What the Cubs should be worried about is do we really want DeWitt as the starting 2nd baseman?? Fukudome in Right?? Who's on 1st??

You are right about some things . It could have been worse . We could have emptied the bank and picked up Peavy like some fools wanted and we would be paying a guy that may never pitch again !

I want him. I can't wait for the end of the year and we can have a side by side comparison between him and Theriot !

"What the Cubs should be worried about is do we really want DeWitt as the starting 2nd baseman??"

Fair question! DeWitt is young, cheap, has potential and lots of big league experience. If he's ever going to flash consistent, big league ability, it's going to be this coming season. I like the fact that the Cubs are giving him a chance to be an everyday guy.

"Fukudome in Right"

Is Fukudome overpaid? Absolutely! But is he a better than average all-around RF? Yes! I have no problems with Fukudome playing the majority of time, next season.

"Who's on 1st??"

A motivated, defensive, power driven player, who walks alot and is playing for his next contract: Carlos Pena.

Fangraphs does a great write up of the effects of Garza moving from Tropicana Field to Wrigley

Still would have liked to had Hawpe for versatility reasons as well as the LH bat and possible future at 1b. With the Crew signing Grienke and another P yesterday from the Jays it looks as if they will stay in contention. I was kind of hoping they would fall out and want to get rid of Fielder.
