Griffey goes to White Sox

Why do they need him ? They need a fielding center fielder . Sure Griffey five years ago would be the guy but , not today . He is just a Jim Thome with an over-inflated ego.
Maybe we may be looking at a cross town trade Jim Edmonds for a Jim Thome . This would benefit both sides of town . The Sox would get a guy that can still go get the ball in center and the Cubs would get a great switch hitting bat on the bench .
It would be a great move . The Sox may even want Scott Eyre .

It could be a Pie , Eyre trade the need relief pitching bad too .

I could just be dreaming and probably so but , Jim would be an awesome bat to have .

Now hopefully I beat Skipper11 to a new thread .

This thread is already in rival central and Thome is a left handed hitter not a switch hitter....and the Sox relief core has been touted as the best in baseball so I don't think the need relief help all to bad.

Konerko has been struggling very badly offensively.... and Swisher is better defensively and offensively at first base....so this gives Ozzie the chance to sit Konerko and put Swisher at first....more depth and flexibility....and it gets Griffey out of Cincy, where he has not been very happy.

Yes... but Swish is defensively better at first which allows them to be stronger defensively.... and Swish may have a lower average, but hits for a bit more power. This solidifies both the outfield and the infield just a bit more... also will allow Thome more rest as Griffey can DH as well.

That's where Griffey wanted to be..... that was part of the reason he okayed the trade.
