Surgery for Prior

http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports...ck=1&cset=true

I hope they find something, because there's no surgical procedure to restore confidence. Well, maybe some, but none that would work in this circumstance.

I think meetings 3 times a week with a shink will have better results then surgery.

It's time to let him go and with him the best...

I don't know what to think about Prior anymore. I'm usually always optimistic, but not about him now. It was nice for the season and a half that it lasted.

My question is:why did it take these so-called "experts"a year and a half to figure out that Prior needs surgery? If he had gotten surgery when he first started having arm problems he could be ready to pitch by now!

All I can say is that it's quite a sad story.

Surgery now vs. later...

...the rule of thumb is always to avoid surgery whenever it is feasible to assume that the player can rehab. That's what Prior's been doing. It's only become clear this year that something is not right in his shoulder -- something that cannot be rehabbed. I certainly hope they find something, because it's pretty obvious that, lacking a medical issue, Prior's pitching career in the majors is just about overwith.
