I'm not a big Pie fan. I've never seen the big time prospect that the Cubs did in Pie. But at this point I say play him until he shows us that he's obviously not in the Cubs future plans. Stick him in the lineup for his defense and hope his bat can come to life. This is his last chance to show that he can hit at the big league level. Edmonds is puttering out. And Fukudome is a glorified slap hitter. Stick Pie in CF and give him this last chance. This would also allow Lou to stick guys who can actually hit in RF!

Pies swing his first time up looked a lot shorter than I have seen it. Then the second time he was long again, so its tough to tell if he has made the necessary adjustments. Him and Fuku have a lot of the same problems but they do it in a different way. They both are too pull happy. Of course, Fuku brings the walks to the equation as well.

Note to Lou: Pie played well today. Put him back into the lineup tomorrow.

Pie WILL be the CF next year if not this year. He has more tools than either Edmunds or Johnson and is only 23. Plus he is not an injury waiting to happen.

Pie has a shorter shelf life than Fukudome . He is only good at spurts , eventually you will see him expand his swing and collapse again . He is a 4A player .

Lets not get ahead of ourselves here. At this point all we are looking for is a few good starts out of Pie. He has never showed the Cubs he can be the everyday center fielder of the future. All he has shown is that he is a AAAA player.

Let's not try to speculate thru your crystal ball. He's only 23

At some point you have to prove you can play at the big league level don't you? Lets not try to speculate thru the crystal ball of the Cubs, and start to be able to make opinions base on what we've actually see. And so far what we see in Felix Pie is not a major league every day player. You're basing all of your confidence in Pie off of what the Cubs have told you. Don't be afraid to form your own opinion.

On a slightly of different note, I'm just curious if anyone else is like me in this regard. Regardless of how good or bad a player is, (Pie in this case), when a person puts on a Cubs uniform, they are "better" in my eyes. I may have trouble explaining what I mean, but just the fact that they are a Cubs player makes me like them more. I want them to succeed. I hope every player brought up from the minors makes a permanent place on the team. Even if they get traded eventually, there's a soft spot in my heart for them, just because they once wore Cubbie blue. Anyone know what I'm talking about? Or is it just me?

;-)
