Grabow in 2010?

So, Sunday night Grabow gave up his first two runs at Wrigley since being traded to the Cubs on July 20th. He has a 1.96 ERA and a .172 batting average against in his last 47 outings dating back to May 24th.... and the fact he is a lefty that the Cubs seem to have issues trying to find reliable lefties in the pen....

He is a free agent at the end of the year... should Hendry keep him? I've heard some fellow Cub fans calling for a complete bullpen remodel... but I think he could be a very valuable building piece for the pen.

I'd rather spend money elsewhere. The cubs are already locked into almost $3 million for Samardzija next year.

Offer him (Grabow) arbitration. Try to improve the bullpen via trade and dumpster diving. Maybe see what you can get for Jake Fox, Sean Marshall, etc.

Dont want to see Greg at all

Don't want to see Marmol close- I would sweep the pen clean and start auditioning.

Grabow/Marmol's entrance songs are going to be 'Walk the Line(up)'.

Billy Wagner as closer

I think Marmol is great in 8th when you need a big K and he should stay there. He seems more focused or something? We can't have a closer that walks people ala KG.

Except Gregg didn't walk people compared to the rest of the Cubs bullpen. He has the second best walk rate of Cubs relievers over 20 innings.

13 home runs is Gregg's problem not the walks.

I don't like Marmol in the 9th, but if it keeps his arm from falling off for a couple of years, I'm all for it. His control problems are probably directly linked to his heavy usage from 07 and 08.

What I can't live with is if the Cubs giving a mediocre reliever like Grabow $4 million or signing an 'elite' closer for even more while letting Harden walk.

Well, relatively speaking compared to the rest of the cubs pen he doesn't walk people; but we've all seen the control problems this year for everybody.

Heilman has finally found his control far too late in the season.
