You guys have me thinking about Lou more and more and more and more I agree completely with you. Did these really happen:
1. He had to learn from a reporter
about Theriot's non-production? Terrible , just terrible. Completely out of touch.
2. He refers to the " ... Yankees as "us" and the Cubs as " they " and "them"... " Astounding ! If I were Ricketts I would sit him down for a private talk - very polite, mind you - and find out just where his allegiances lie and how much he cares - really cares - about the Cubs. Remember, he hired on with the Cubs primarily for potential personal glory.
3. I know this one is true because I read this article: http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/news/art...=.jsp&c_id=chc
which contained this comment:
" ... "We needed one more out from Lilly
," Piniella said. "I had Carlos Marmol [was] ready
to come in to pitch, and we didn't get it. Lilly pitched a good ballgame. One more out
and we bring Marmol in to face [Lastings] Milledge, but we didn't get to that." ... "
The out referred to is the last out of the 8th inning. Not bringing Marmol in for that out resulted in this: ... [Lilly] surrendered a two-run home run to Pirates second baseman Neil Walker. The first home run of Walker's career lifted the Pirates to a 3-2 win over the Cubs
on Tuesday night at PNC Park. ... "
Lou is apparently so locked into some baffling and idiotic formula he refused to bring Marmol in for anything but the 9th inning. Just 1 out in the 8th but he would not bring him in.
Lou really must go.
