Cubs exercise Harden's 2009 option

He will be brought back in 2009, and reports have com out that he will not need surgery.

Love him. This year the Cubs should run away with the division so parking him for some time during the season is ok. I fully expect this team to get to the playoffs and he should be able to help.

Now that Harden doesn't need surgery, he should take these next few months in the offseason to strengthen himself so he can avoid all those "injury problems."

No brainier really. Harden has a ton of upside. At 7 million he's a bargain.

Not sure if I want CC, sure, he is a Hell of a pitcher, but all those innings and starts on 3 days rest in a row are bound to catch up to him sooner or later. He would look great in Cubbie Blue, but he is an arm injury waiting to happen.

Plus, speaking on post season, he gets his ass handed to him every time he pitches inteh post season

According to Steve Stone CC is building a house in LA he is from the Oakland area and will end up in San Fran or LA. He is a tub of goo and pitched a ton of innings in a losing cause with the Brewer. I would not be surprised if he ends up with arm problems unless he goes on the Dempster workout plan.

I don't think the Cubs will even sniff CC at this point. I think the pitching rotation is pretty much set, just need to sign Dempster. He was the most consistent pitcher this season, like it or not. He'll give a home-town discount, so the Cubs would only need to play maybe $8 or 9 million.
