I say why not..this man has never given up on the Cubs and the Cubs haven't gave up on him. He wasn't terrible as a starter when he was and wasn't awful as a closer. I'd give him 3 years. Rather him be for us than against us. He has been the Cubs longest tenture player and loyal. Unlike the clown that just did absolutely nothing for 2 years in San Diego and in Chicago except collect a paycheck.

What's your source? I haven't read any paticulars on Kerry's contract demands. The only thing I have read is Big Jim seeming much more likely to sign Dempster than Kerry(Huge mistake!). I can see Kerry asking for a 2 year deal with a mutual option for a 3rd year. Kerry has been a productive player for the Cubs organization for a long time. In his first season as a closer he stayed healthy for most of the season and did a good job. I think next season he would do even better. Marmol is not a closer. Not resigning Kery would be a huge mistake by Big Jim. Not only is he a fan favorite. But he's still a very productive player. His absence would leave a very large hole in an already question filled bullpen. Do the right thing Big Jim and resign him!

I say only one year at a time with options and heavy incentives. Remember his history and that his arm could fall off at anytime.

he wont take one year deals. He wants a comitment. He gave us a one year deal to prove he is healthy, and he will get a multi-year deal elsewhere. Id give him a three year deal. he will likely get around 10M per

I agree with you. Any of these guys are an injury waiting to happen and he did prove to us that he is healthy an still very much in the game. I wouldn't go more than three years right now. Keep Kid K in Cubby Blue.

I'm sure both sides can agree on a fair contract. Something like a 3 year 22.5 million dollar contract might do the trick. For some reason I get an unsettling feeling that Kerry wants to be with the Cubs more then the Cubs want Kerry. I really hope i'm wrong.

I think that might be a bit low. 3 for 25M-28M is likely

one reason they might not resign him, is to shed payroll. Its going to be close to 140M before resigned Demps or Wood
