It's coming up in about 3 weeks? Anyone going? My parents gave me and my son a weekend package to the convention last year and we were instantly hooked from the minute we stepped foot into the Hilton. My son and I literally "saved our pennies" (all of our loose change) from the past year. I told him if we could save the money by the time the passes went on sale, we would go. We hit the amount in November, right in time for the hotel packages to go on sale, so, we will be off to the Sheraton this year!
Since it's been awhile since I've been on here, I'll fill you in on my son's good luck continuing (
remember when he was chosen to throw out the 1st pitch on Opening Day of 2011?). Well, at the convention, Reed Johnson was in the LegoLand Lego Challenge (where he was to see if he could build a lego baseball faster than the LegoMaster), he asked for someone to help him as his little guy isn't big enough to play with Legos yet, so he wasn't in practice... and guess who he chose? Yep, my kid with the Golden Cub Luck! He was able to take batting instructions from Anthony Rizzo, Brett Jackson, Ian Stewart, and spent most of Sunday morning with Rick Monday in the cage! He was able to get a lot of pitching instructions with Paul Maholm, Jeff Fassero, Mike Bielecki, Jeff Beliveau, Chris Carpenter, and Lester Strode. It was such an amazing experience and fun weekend, I can't wait to go back! We are taking my dad and brother with this year. I didn't get to go to any of the Q&A seminars that I wanted to go to because my son wanted to do all of the "kid stuff" (batting and pitching instructions, legoland challenges, kids only seminars), so with my brother coming with, he can go do that stuff with him, and my dad and I can go pick the brains of the upper management and hear the stories of the Old Time Cubs!
